平时偈
Verses On Ordinary Times
平时无悔，续造大恶，
业障越重，越碍往生。
In ordinary times without regrets, continuing to create great evils, with karmic obstacles more heavy, are more obstructions of rebirth in Pure Land.
但若及时，真心忏悔，
一心念佛，带业往生。
However, if in time, with the truly sincere mind repenting, and with wholehearted mindfulness of Āmítuófó, one can bring karmas to be reborn in Pure Land.
智者应当，一时造恶，
当下忏悔，念佛消业。
Those wise should, when in one moment having created evil, at once repent, and with mindfulness of Āmítuófó eliminate the karmic obstacles.
平时精进，戒贪嗔痴，
临终更易，带业往生。
In ordinary times diligently, abstaining from greed, anger and delusion, when approaching life’s end, it will be even easier, to bring karmas to be reborn in Pure Land.
