念净土经，
如看药方。
为知药性，
如何服药。

Reciting Pure Land Sūtras,
is like looking at prescriptions.
For knowing medicinal properties,
and how to take the medicine.

念弥陀名，
如真服药。
为生极乐，
如是解脱。

Reciting Āmítuófó’s name,
is like truly taking the medicine.
For birth in the Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss,
to thus be liberated.
