[18] 什么是净土法门？
[18] What Is [The] Pure Land Dharma Door?
◎ 即信愿念佛法门。至顿至圆，彻上彻下。超越一代时教所说一切法门之特别法门也，为诸法之本源。
◎ [Summary]: [It is] thus [the] Dharma Door [Of] Mindfulness [Of] Buddha [with] Faith [and] Aspiration. [With] utmost sudden [and] utmost complete [realisation], penetrating [to those] above [and] penetrating [to those] below, [it] surpasses [the Buddha’s] one lifetime’s teachings’ all those spoken Dharma Doors, as [the] original source of all Dharma [teachings].
净土法门者，如来一代时教之特别法门也。
That Pure Land Dharma Door, [is the] Special Dharma Door of [the] Thus Come [One’s] one lifetime’s teachings.
为诸法之本源，举凡圣而悉度。
As [the] original source of all Dharma [teachings, for] all ordinary [and] noble [beings], and [for] all [to be] delivered.
上、中、下三根普被，禅、教、律一道同归。
[With the] high, middle [and] low, [the] three roots universally covered, [it is the] Chán, [Sūtra] Teachings [and] Vinaya [Traditions’] one path [for] together returning [to].
下手易而成功高，用力少而得效速。
[With] starting easy, yet [with] success high, [with] using [of] efforts little, yet attaining results quickly.
允为九界众生归真之捷径，大畅本师释迦出世之本怀。
[It] truly is [the] nine realms’ sentient beings’ quickest path of returning [to the] true, [that] greatly [and] completely realises [our] Fundamental Teacher Śākya[muni Buddha’s] [释迦牟尼佛] original intention of arising [in this] world.

Wúxī’s Xīfāng Hall’s Conditions [For] Arising’s Tablet’s Record
净土法门者，如来彻底悲心、普度众生之法门也。
That Pure Land Dharma Door, [with the] Thus Come [One’s] completely compassionate mind, [is] that Dharma Door [for] universally delivering sentient beings.
令彼无力断惑具缚凡夫，信愿持名，现生了脱，与观音势至同为伴侣。
[It] enables those completely bound ordinary beings without [the] power [to] sever confusions, [with] Faith [and] Aspiration upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name [阿弥陀佛] [to, in this] present life [be] completely liberated, [to be] with Contemplator [Of The World’s] Sounds [观世音] [and Great] Power Arrived [Bodhisattvas] [大势至菩萨] as companions.
上而至于等觉菩萨，位邻佛果，尚须往生，方成正觉。
[Those] above then, [with] reaching of Equal Awakening’s Bodhisattvahood, [with their] position close to Buddhahood’s fruit, still need [to be] reborn [in the Pure Land, to] then accomplish [Unsurpassable Right And Equal] Right Awakening [无上正等正觉].
至顿至圆，彻上彻下，超越一代时教所说一切法门之特别法门也。
[It is the] Special Dharma Door that [is with] utmost sudden [and] utmost complete [realisation], penetrating [to those] above [and] penetrating [to those] below, surpassing [the Buddha’s] one lifetime’s teachings’ all those [other] spoken Dharma Doors.

净土法门，三根普被，利钝全收。
[With the] Pure Land Dharma Door, [all sentient beings of the] three roots [i.e. high, middle and low], [are] universally gathered, [with the] sharp [and] dull all received.
乃如来普为一切上圣下凡，令其于此生中，即了生死之大法也。
[It was] thus [taught by the] Thus Come [One, as] that great Dharma, universally for all higher noble [and] lower ordinary [beings, to] enable them [to], within this life, immediately [be] liberated [from the cycle of] birth [and] death.
