三根偈
Verses On Three Roots
上根众生，诸大菩萨，
亦须念佛，迅速成佛。
High roots’ sentient beings, such as all Great Bodhisattvas, likewise must be mindful of Buddha, to swiftly accomplish Buddhahood.
中根众生，诸一般者，
亦须念佛，上求佛道。
Medium roots’ sentient beings, such as all those common ones, likewise must be mindful of Buddha, to higher seek the Buddha path.
下根众生，诸大愚者，
亦须念佛，大开佛智。
Low roots’ sentient beings, such as all those greatly foolish ones, likewise must be mindful of Buddha, to more greatly open up to Buddha’s wisdom.
