[154] When In This World Giving Rise To The Aspiration To Recite Āmítuófó’s Name, Will A Lotus Flower Then Grow Within A Seven Treasures’ Pond In The Western Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss?

[When] those minds [of] sentient beings, with [the] mind of Āmítuófó, see [their] bodies [to be the] same [as] each other, [and] if with Faith [and] Aspiration recollecting [and] mindful connecting [to] each other, [this will] definitely lead [to Ā]mítuó[fó’s] compassionate vows [to] gather [and] receive.

Thus, [when in] this world giving rise [to the] Aspiration [to] recite [Āmítuó]fó[’s name to] seek birth [in the] Western [Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss (极乐世界)], within [a] seven treasures’ pond within, immediately grows a lotus flower. If diligent [and] not retrogressing, then [will] this flower gradually [be] seen [to become] vast [and] great. Waiting until that person approaches [life’s] end, [the] Buddha and [his] noble assembly, [will] immediately hold this flower, [to] receive [and] guide [for] rebirth [in the Pure Land].

[The] Sòng [Dynasty’s] King Jīng’s Madam, [who] sincerely cultivated pure karmas, [was with the] concubines [and] consorts, without [those] not led [to] practise. [There] was a concubine, without sickness departing. [The] Madam [at] night dreamt [of the] deceased concubine, [who] solicitously expressed gratitude.

Also guiding her [to the] West walking, [she] saw a treasure pond, [with] its measure vast [and] great. [In the] middle [was] a great flower, [with] bright light excellent. [The] concubine said, ‘This [is the] Madam’s birth place. All those flowers surrounding it within, [are] all [of] those [who] received [the] Madam’s teachings, and [those who] passed through many [to] teach one another, with giving rise [of] Aspiration.’

[With the] Madam awakened already, [she was with] sorrow [and] joy mixed together. Before long, coming to [the] day to be born, [with] recitation [of Āmítuó]fó[’s name, she] stood [and] departed.
