[47] 为什么不能以念佛之特别法门，修通途之自力观行？
[47] Why [There] Must Not [Be] With [The] Special Dharma Door Of Mindfulness [Of] Buddha, Cultivating Those Common Self-Powered Visualisation Practice?
◎ 身业专礼，口业专称，意业专念。念至其极，则心佛外佛，一如不二。善导专修念佛证道，非自力证道之所能比。
◎ [Summary]: [With] physical karma focused [on] prostrating, verbal karma focused [on] reciting, [and] mental karma focused [on] mindfulness. [With] mindfulness reaching that utmost, then [is the] mind’s Buddha [and the] external Buddha, one thus [and] not two. [Great Master] Shàndǎo’s focused cultivation [on] mindfulness [of Āmítuó]fó [for] realising [the] path, [is] not that [by] self-power realising [the] path able [to be] compared.
善导专修，身业专礼，口业专称，意业专念。
[Great Master] Shàndǎo’s focused cultivation, [is with] physical karma focused [on] prostrating, verbal karma focused [on] reciting, [and] mental karma focused [on] mindfulness.
念至其极，则心佛外佛，一如不二。其证道也，非自力证道之所能比。
[With] mindfulness reaching that utmost, then [is the] mind’s Buddha [and the] external Buddha, one thus [and] not two. This [for] realising [the] path, [is] not that [by] self-power realising [the] path able [to be] compared.
古人谓劣夫乘轮宝力，一日可以遍游四大部洲。何得以念佛之特别法门，修通途之自力观行？光虽下愚，不敢肯许。
Ancient people say [that an] inferior man riding [on a] wheel treasure’s power, can [in] one day, everywhere travel [in the] four great continents. How can [there be] with [the] Special Dharma Door Of Mindfulness [of] Buddha, cultivating those common self-powered visualisation practices? [Yìn]guāng, although extremely foolish, [do] not dare [to] agree [to and] permit [this].
倘以此一尘不染之清净心，圆发三心，则现生亲证三昧，临终往生上品，便可豫为座下贺。
If with this pure mind that [is by] one [speck of] dust not defiled, completely giving rise [to the] Three Minds, then [in this] present life personally realising samādhi, [when] approaching [life’s] end, [with] rebirth [in a] High Grade, then can [there], in advance be congratulations [for] you.
[Note: As taught in the Contemplation Sūtra《观经》, the Three Minds (三心) to be given rise for those aspiring to be born in the Pure Land are the utmost sincere mind (至诚心), profound faithful mind (深心), and the mind of dedication with giving rise of aspiration to be born (回向发愿心).]
一得之愚，尚祈矜监。
[With this] one thought of foolishness, [I] still implore [you, to be with] sympathy [for] inspecting [this].
