[515]「顶圣眼天生」等是什么意思?
[515] What [Are The] Meanings [Of Those ‘From The] Crown [To Be] Noble [Ones, And From The] Eyes [To Be] Heavenly [Beings] Born’ [And] Others?
◎ 人断气后通身冷透,唯头顶独热者,则必超凡入圣,了生脱死也。若眼及额颅处独热,则生天道。心处独热,则生人道。肚腹独热,则生饿鬼道。膝盖独热,则生畜生道。脚板独热,则生地狱道。
◎ [Summary]: After [the] person [has] stopped breathing, [and] all [of the] body [is] cold throughout, [with] only that head’s crown warm, then [is it] certain [that one has] transcended [the] ordinary [and] entered [the] noble [realm in Pure Land, to be] completely liberated [from] birth [and] death. If [the] eyes and forehead parts alone [are] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] heavenly path. [If the] heart part alone [is]] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] human path. [If the] belly alone [is] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] hungry ghost path. [If the] kneecaps alone [are] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] animal path. [If the] soles [of the] feet alone [are] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] hell path.
「顶圣眼天生」等者,谓人气已断,通身冷透,惟头顶独热者,则必超凡入圣,了生脱死也。
[Of] those ‘[from the] crown [to be] noble [ones, and from the] eyes [to be] heavenly [beings] born’ [and] others, [this is to] say [that when the] person’s breathing [has] already stopped, [and] all [of the] body [is] cold throughout, [with] only that head’s crown warm, then [is it] certain [that one has] transcended [the] ordinary [and] entered [the] noble [realm in Pure Land, to be] completely liberated [from] birth [and] death.
「眼天生」者,若眼及额颅处独热,则生天道。心处独热,则生人道。肚腹独热,则生饿鬼道。膝盖独热,则生畜生道。脚板独热,则生地狱道。
[Of] those of ‘[from the] eyes [to be] heavenly [beings] born’, if [the] eyes and forehead parts alone [are] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] heavenly path. [If the] heart part alone [is] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] human path. [If the] belly alone [is] warm, then [is there] birth [in the] hungry ghost path. 此由人在生时,所造善恶二业,至此感现如是,非可以势力假为也。
This [is] due [to the] person, when living, those created good [and] evil, [with these] two [kinds of] karmas, connecting [to] appear like this, not [what] can [be with] strength falsely done.
是时若病人能志诚念佛,再加眷属善友助念之力,决定可以带业往生,超凡入圣耳。
[At] this moment, if [the] sick person [is] able [to] sincerely [and] single-mindedly recite [Āmítuó]fó[’s name (阿弥陀佛)], further added [with the] power of family members [and] good friends’ support-chanting, [one] definitely can bring [one’s] karmas [to be] reborn [in] Pure Land, [to] transcend [the] ordinary [and] enter [the] noble [realm].
不须专事探试征验,以致误事也。至嘱至祷!
[There is] no need [to] focus [on the] matter [of] examining [and] testing [for] confirmation, with [this] leading to bungling [of the] matter [of reaching Pure Land. This is my] utmost sincere exhortation [and] utmost sincere request!
