[522] 临终助念应该念几字佛号？
[522] [There] Should [Be] Reciting [Āmítuó]fó’s Name [With] How [Many] Words [When] Approaching [Life’s] End?
◎ 初起时，念几句六字，以后专念阿弥陀佛四字。
◎ [Summary]: At first, recite a few lines [of the] six words [i.e. Námó Āmítuófó (南无阿弥陀佛)], [and] thereafter focus [on] reciting [the] four words ‘Āmítuófó’.
又宜念四字佛号。初起时，念几句六字，以后专念阿弥陀佛四字，不念南无，以字少易念。病人或随之念，或摄心听，皆省心力。
[It is] also suitable [to] recite [the] four words [of the] Buddha’s name. At first, recite a few lines [of the] six words [i.e. Námó Āmítuófó (南无阿弥陀佛)], [and] thereafter focus [on] reciting [the] four words ‘Āmítuófó’, not reciting ‘Námó’, [as] with fewer words, [it is] easier [to] recite, [for the] sick person [to] perhaps follow that reciting, or gather [that in the] mind [with] listening, saving everyone’s mental [and] physical efforts.
