常欲见好境，易着魔发狂
[123] Constantly Desiring [To] See Good Realms, Easily Possessed [By The] Demonic [To] Go Mad
《自知录》，为引人入魔至极可恶之魔话。上海罗济同居士得此录，石印一千本送人。丁桂樵居士欲为广布，令济同寄光一包，桂樵自己作书与光，祈为作序，以期广传。光阅之，不胜惊异。即将原寄之书，完全寄与桂樵，极陈此书之祸。
‘Record [Of] Self-Knowledge’ is [with] extremely vile demonic words that lead people [to] enter [the] demonic. Shànghǎi’s Layperson Luó Jìtóng got this record, [and] lithographically printed one thousand copies [to] give [them to] people. Layperson Dīng Guìqiáo, desiring to widely circulate [it], ordered Jìtóng [to] send [Yìn]guāng a pack [of it, with] Guìqiáo personally writing [a] letter for [Yìn]guāng, requesting [me to], for [it] write [a] preface, with hope [of] widely propagating [it. Yìn]guāng read it, [and was with] unequalled amazement [and] astonishment. [I am] about to [be with] those originally sent books, completely sent [back] for Guìqiáo, [with] utmost explanation [of the] damaging [nature] of this book.
以初心人率皆不在一心至诚忆念上用功，而常欲见好境界，倘一见此书，以急切之狂妄心，常作此念，必至引起宿世怨家，为现彼所慕之境。
With persons [having the] initial mind all the same, not caring about wholehearted utmost sincere recollection [and] mindfulness [of Buddha], on [this being] diligent, yet constantly desiring [to] see good realms, if once seeing this book, with [the] arrogant mind of impatience, constantly having this thought, [they will] definitely arrive [at the] leading [of] past lives enemies [i.e. karmic creditors], [to] for [them] manifest those longed for ‘realms’ [which are not real].
及乎一见此境，生大欢喜，怨家随即附体，其人即丧心病狂，佛亦不奈何彼矣。
When once seeing these ‘realms’, giving rise [to] great joy, [with] enemies following immediately possessing [their] bodies, [with] these persons then losing [their] minds [with the] sickness [of] madness, [the] Buddhas [are] also not [able] to deal with those.
