普劝修持
[2] Universal Encouragement [For] Practice
藏经云：「念阿弥陀佛者，现世消灾保寿。
[The] Treasury [Of] Sūtras say, ‘Those [who] recite “Āmítuófó”, [in this] present life [will] eliminate disasters [and] protect [their] lifespans.
此佛有大誓愿云：『我作佛时，十方众生至心信乐，欲生我国，十声称我名号，而不生者，我不作佛。』」
This Buddha has [a] great vow, saying, “When I become [a] Buddha, [if the] ten directions’ sentient beings, [with] sincere minds [of] joyful faith, desire birth [in] my land, [with] ten recitations reciting my name, [are with] those yet not born, I [will] not become [a] Buddha.”‘
如每朝合掌向西念：
If, every morning, [with] joined palms towards [the] West recite,
「南无西方极乐世界大慈大悲阿弥陀佛（一声）
‘Námó [i.e. homage to and refuge for life in the] Western Land [Of] Ultimate Bliss’ Āmítuófó [with] Great Loving-Kindness [and] Great Compassion. (One recitation)
阿弥陀佛（十声或百声、千声、万声）」
Āmítuófó. (Ten recitations or [one] hundred recitations, [one] thousand recitations, ten thousand recitations)’
复念偈一遍：
Again, recite [this] verse one time,
「愿同念佛人，尽生极乐国。
见佛了生死，如佛度一切。」
‘May people together reciting [the] Buddha[‘s name, at the] end [of life, be] born [in the] Land [Of] Ultimate Bliss. Seeing [the] Buddha, liberating [from] birth [and] death, like [the] Buddha delivering all.’
合掌低头问讯而退。
[With] joined palms [and] lowered heads half bow and retreat.
如上一法，日日奉行，西方七宝池自然生莲花一朵，他日于其中托生，衣食随意化成，长生不老。
If [with the] above one method, every day practising [it, the] Western seven treasures’ ponds [will] naturally grow a lotus flower, one day from it within [as] support [for] birth. [With] clothing [and] food as wished manifesting [to be] formed, [with] long life not ageing.
凡女人念佛往生者，皆化为男子身。
All those women [who] recite [the] Buddha’s [name] reborn, [will] all [be] transformed to be [with] male bodies.
王日修劝。以上一篇，若能刊印单张送人，最为善中之善。
Wáng Rìxiū encouraged [thus]. With [the] above one passage, if able [to] print [in a] single-sheet leaflet [to] give people, [this] is [the] most good of good within.
