上下偈
Verses On The Higher And Lower
为上求佛道，
自求生净土。
为下化众生，
亦劝他生西。
For higher seeking of the Buddha path, personally seek birth in Āmítuófó’s Pure Land. For lower transforming of sentient beings, also encouraging others to be born in his Western Land.
为化成佛道，
自回入秽土。
为度尽众生，
续劝他生西。
For manifesting accomplishing of the Buddha path, personally return to enter defiled lands. For delivering sentient beings completely, continue encouraging others to be born in the Western Land.
