念佛法门，但具真信切愿，至诚念佛。及至临命终时，必蒙佛慈接引，往生西方。喻如小孩，由父母提携，即可直达本家也。
[For the] Dharma Door [Of] Mindfulness [Of] Buddha, [it] only [needs one to be] complete [with] true Faith [and] sincere Aspiration, [to] utmost sincerely recite [Āmítuó]fó[’s name (阿弥陀佛)]. Up until when approaching [life’s] end, [one will] definitely receive [the] Buddha’s compassionate reception [and] guidance, [to be] reborn [in his] Western [Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss (极乐世界). This is] analogous to [a] small child, following [the] parents leading by their hands, [who] can then directly reach [their] original home.
[72] 修密宗法门能即身成佛吗？
[72] [Are Those Who] Cultivate [The] Esoteric Tradition Able [To] Accomplish Buddhahood [In] This Body?
◎ 密宗虽有现身成佛之义，而现身成者，究有几人？莫道学密之人，不能现身成佛，即传密宗之活佛，也不是现身成佛之人。
◎ [Summary]: Although [the] Esoteric Tradition has [the] aim of accomplishing Buddhahood [in this] present body, yet, [of] those [in their] present bodies accomplished, how many people are [there] in the end? [This is] not [to] say [that] people [who] learn [the] Esoteric [Tradition, are] not able [to] accomplish Buddhahood [in their] present bodies. [However], even those ‘living Buddhas’, [who] transmit [the] Esoteric Tradition, are also not people [who have] accomplished Buddhahood [in their] present bodies.
近人多好立异，不肯做老实工夫，故有学禅宗相宗密宗者。此三法门，均不可思议，然均属自力。
Contemporary people [are with] many fond [of] establishing [the] different, not willing [to] put in earnest effort. Thus are [there] those learning [the] Chán Tradition, [Fǎ]xiāng Tradition [法相宗 (Dharma Characteristics Tradition); 瑜伽宗 (Yogācāra Tradition); 唯识宗 (Consciousness-Only Tradition)] [and] Esoteric Tradition. These three Dharma Doors, [although are] equally inconceivable, however, [they] equally depend [on] self-power [only].
密宗虽有现身成佛之义，而现身成者，究有几人？
Although [the] Esoteric Tradition has [the] aim of accomplishing Buddhahood [in this] present body, yet, [of] those [in their] present bodies accomplished, how many people are [there] in the end?
莫道学密之人，不能现身成佛。即传密宗之活佛，也不是现身成佛之人。
[This is] not [to] say [that] people [who] learn [the] Esoteric [Tradition, are] not able [to] accomplish Buddhahood [in their] present bodies. [However], even those ‘living Buddhas’, [who] transmit [the] Esoteric Tradition, are also not people [who have] accomplished Buddhahood [in their] present bodies.
汝等且莫随此各法门知识转，则现生便可出此五浊，登彼九品，为弥陀之弟子，作海会之良朋矣。
You all, moreover, [should] not follow each [of] these Dharma Doors’ knowledge [to be] transformed, [to part from the Pure Land teachings]. Thus [in this] present life, then can [there be] exit [from] these Five Defilements [of kalpa, views, afflictions, sentient beings and lifespans, to] ascend [the] other [shore’s] Nine Grades [of lotus flowers], as disciples of [Ā]mítuó[fó (阿弥陀佛), to] become good friends of [the lotus pond] ocean[wide] assembly!
