[499] 为什么不能有求早死早往生的执着心？
[499] Why Must [There] Not Be Attachment’s Mind Of Seeking Early Death [For] Early Rebirth?
◎ 求往生唯在一心念佛。若不一心念佛，唯求速死，必定招起无量劫来怨家，令汝横死。此执着心不可有，有即是病，不可不知。
◎ [Summary]: Seeking [of] rebirth [in Pure Land, is]only in wholehearted recitation [of Āmítuó]fó[‘s name (阿弥陀佛)]. If not wholeheartedly reciting [Āmítuó]fó[‘s name], only seeking quick death, [this] certainly attracts [the] rise [of] immeasurable kalpas’ enemies, [who will] cause you [to have an] untimely death. [There] must not [be] this attachment’s mind, [as] having [it], then is [there] sickness. [This] must not [be] not known.
汝言随时随地，得死便死之话，亦是求生之本，亦是招魔之根。
Your speaking of words, [that] at any time [and] any place, [if there] must [be] death, then [let there be] death, also is [the] root of seeking birth [in Pure Land, and] also is [the] root of attracting demons.
死固人所皆有，但不得有求死之着心，求速往生，唯在一心念佛。
Death certainly [is] that [which] people all have. However, [there] must not be attachment’s mind of seeking death, [to] seek quick rebirth [in Pure Land, which is] only in wholehearted recitation [of Āmítuó]fó[‘s name (阿弥陀佛)].
若不一心念佛，唯求速死，必定招起无量劫来怨家，令汝横死。
If not wholeheartedly reciting [Āmítuó]fó[‘s name], only seeking quick death, [this] certainly attracts [the] rise [of] immeasurable kalpas’ enemies, [who will] cause you [to have an] untimely death.
不但不得往生，待至将死，魔力已去，则苦不胜言，当生邪见，必致堕落。
Not only not attaining rebirth [in Pure Land], waiting until [when] about [to] die, [with their] demonic power already departed, then [with] suffering [that] cannot [be] completely spoken, [there] will [be the] arising [of] evil thoughts, [that] certainly lead [to] falling.
此执着心不可有，有即是病，不可不知。
[There] must not [be] this attachment’s mind, [as] having [it], then [is there] this sickness, [this] must not [be] not known.
