大唐三藏菩提流志奉诏译
[By The] Great Táng [Dynasty’s] Tripiṭaka [Dharma Master] Bodhiruci [With] Received Decree Translated
《大宝积经》卷第十七：《无量寿如来会》第五之一
[The] Great Treasures’ Collection Sūtra’s Seventeenth Scroll: Immeasurable Life Thus Come One’s Assembly‘s First Of Fifth [Part]
佛言：『今正是时，汝应具说，令众欢喜，亦令大众，皆当摄受，圆满佛土。』
[The] Buddha said, “Now precisely is [the] time, [that] you should completely speak, [to] cause [the] assembly [to be] joyous, also [to] cause [the] great assembly, [who] will all be [able to] gather [and] receive [them, to] complete [and] perfect [their] Buddha lands.”
法处白言：『唯愿世尊，大慈留听，我今将说殊胜之愿：
Dharma Position said, “[I] only wish [the] World-Honoured [One to, with] great compassion, remain [to] listen, [as] I now will speak those excellent vows.
若我证得无上菩提，国中有地狱、饿鬼、畜生趣者，我终不取无上正觉。
[1] If I realise Unsurpassable Bodhi, [my] land within has those hell-[beings], hungry ghosts [and] animals’ realms, I [shall to the] end not obtain Unsurpassable Right Awakening.
[Attainment of liberation from evil paths upon reaching Pure Land]
若我成佛，国中众生，有堕三恶趣者，我终不取正觉。
[2] If I accomplish Buddhahood, [sentient] beings within [my] land, have those falling [into the] three evil realms, I [shall to the] end not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of liberation from evil paths after leaving Pure Land]
若我成佛，国中有情，若不皆同真金色者，不取正觉。
[3] If I accomplish Buddhahood, if sentient [beings] within [my] land, [are] not all those [with the] same true gold colour, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of pure gold colour]
若我成佛，国中有情，形貌差别，有好丑者，不取正觉。
[4] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient [beings] within [my] land, [have] appearances [with] differences, having those beautiful [and] ugly, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of equal physical majesty]
若我成佛，国中有情，不得宿念，下至不知亿那由他，百千劫事者，不取正觉。
[5] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient [beings] within [my] land, [do] not attain past memories, at least not knowing those koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand kalpas’ matters, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of knowledge of innumerable past lives]
若我成佛，国中有情，若无天眼，乃至不见亿那由他，百千佛国土者，不取正觉。
[6] If I accomplish Buddhahood, if sentient [beings] within [my] land, [are] without [the] heavenly eye, and even not seeing those koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand Buddha lands, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of sight of innumerable Buddha lands]
若我成佛，国中有情，不获天耳，乃至不闻亿那由他，百千踰缮那外，佛说法者，不取正觉。
[7] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient [beings] within [my] land, [do] not obtain [the] heavenly ear, and even not hearing those koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand yojanas beyond, Buddhas’ spoken Dharma, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of hearing of innumerable Buddhas’ teachings]
若我成佛，国中有情，无他心智，乃至不知亿那由他，百千佛国土中，有情心行者，不取正觉。
[8] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient [beings] within [my] land, [are] without others’ minds’ knowledge, and even not knowing those koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand Buddha lands within, sentient [beings’] mental activities, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of knowledge of thoughts of beings in innumerable Buddha lands]
若我成佛，国中有情，不获神通自在，波罗蜜多，于一念顷，不能超过亿那由他，百千佛刹者，不取正觉。
[9] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient [beings] within [my] land, [do] not obtain supernormal [powers with] ease [and] pāramitās, in one thought moment, not able [to] surpass koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand Buddha lands, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of swift travel to innumerable Buddha lands, with pāramitās]
若我成佛，国中有情，起于少分我我所想者，不取菩提。
[10] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient [beings] within [my] land, give rise [to] those little parts [of] perceptions [of] self [and] that [of] self, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of liberation from attachment to self]
若我成佛，国中有情，若不决定，成等正觉证，大涅槃者，不取菩提。
[11] If I accomplish Buddhahood, if sentient [beings] within [my] land, do] not definitely accomplish that Equal [And] Right Awakening’s Realisation’s Great Nirvāṇa, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of Equal And Right Awakening of Buddhahood]
若我成佛，光明有限，下至不照亿那由他，百千及算数佛刹者，不取菩提。
[12] If I accomplish Buddhahood, [my] bright light has [a] limit, at least not illuminating those koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand and countable number [of] Buddha lands, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of immeasurable blessings from light everywhere]
若我成佛，寿量有限，乃至俱胝那由他，百千及算数劫者，不取菩提。
[13] If I accomplish Buddhahood, [my] lifespan has [a] limit, and even [have] that koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand and countable number [of] kalpas, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of immeasurable blessings for all time]
若我成佛，国中声闻，无有知其数者。假使三千大千世界，满中有情及诸缘觉，于百千岁尽其智，算亦不能知。若有知者，不取正觉。
[14] If I accomplish Buddhahood, [of] Voice-Hearers within [my] land, [there will] not be those knowing their number. Even if [the] three-thousandfold great-thousandfold world, [is] filled within [with] sentient [beings] and all [those by] Conditions Awakened, for [a] hundred thousand years exhausting their wisdom, [with] counting likewise, [they will] not [be] able [to] know [it]. If [there] are those knowing, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of birth in Pure Land for immeasurable Voice-Hearers]
若我成佛，国中有情，寿量有限齐者，不取菩提。唯除愿力，而受生者。
[15] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient [beings] within [my] land, [have] those lifespans [that] have limits [and] restrictions, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi. Only excluded [are] those [with] vows’ power, [to] then receive births.
[Attainment of immeasurable lifespan that can be shortened as wished]
若我成佛，国中众生，若有不善名者，不取正觉。
[16] If I accomplish Buddhahood, if sentient [beings] within [my] land, have those [with] unvirtuous names, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of liberation from all evil influences]
若我成佛，彼无量刹中，无数诸佛，不共咨嗟，称叹我国者，不取正觉。
[17] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within those immeasurable lands, those innumerable all Buddhas, [do] not together highly praise my land, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of knowledge, recommendation and confidence of Amitābha Buddha’s most excellent vows and Pure Land through all Buddhas]
若我证得无上觉时，余佛刹中，诸有情类，闻我名已，所有善根，心心回向，愿生我国，乃至十念，若不生者，不取菩提。唯除造无间恶业，诽谤正法及诸圣人。
[18] If, when I realise Unsurpassable Awakening, within other Buddha lands, all sentient kinds [of beings, having] heard my name already, [with] all good roots, [from] thought [to] thought dedicate, aspire [to be] born [in] my land, and even [for] ten thoughts, if [there are] those not born, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi. Only excluded [are those who have] created uninterrupted evil karmas, slandered [the] Right Dharma and all noble persons.

若我成佛，于他刹土，有诸众生，发菩提心，及于我所起清净念，复以善根，回向愿生极乐，彼人临命终时，我与诸比丘众，现其人前。若不尔者，不取正觉。
[19] If I accomplish Buddhahood, in other lands, [that] have all sentient beings, [who] give rise [to the] Bodhi Mind, and for my place give rise [to] pure thoughts, again with good roots, dedicate [and] aspire [to be] born [in my Land Of] Ultimate Bliss, when those persons approach life’s end, I with many Bhikṣus’ assembly, [will] appear before these persons. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of reception and guidance for birth in Pure Land for those with the Bodhi Mind, dedicated with good roots and aspiration]
若我成佛，无量国中，所有众生，闻说我名，以己善根，回向极乐，若不生者，不取菩提。
[20] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within immeasurable lands, all sentient beings [who] hear [that] spoken [on] my name, with personal good roots, dedicate [to the Land Of] Ultimate Bliss, if [there are] those not born [there, I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of birth in Pure Land with mindfulness of name, dedicated with good roots]
若我成佛，国中菩萨，皆不成就三十二相者，不取菩提。
[21] If I accomplish Buddhahood, Bodhisattvas within [my] land, [are] all those not accomplished [with the] thirty-two forms, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of great human’s forms]
若我成佛，于彼国中，所有菩萨，于大菩提，咸悉位阶，一生补处。唯除大愿，诸菩萨等，为诸众生，被精进甲，勤行利益，修大涅槃，遍诸佛国，行菩萨行，供养一切诸佛如来，安立恒沙众生，住无上觉，所修诸行，复胜于前，行普贤道，而得出离。若不尔者，不取菩提。
[22] If I accomplish Buddhahood, of [those] within that land, all Bodhisattvas, for Great Bodhi, [will have] all positions’ ranks, [with the] Position [Of] One Life [To] Replacement. Only excluded [are those with] great vows, all Bodhisattvas [and] others, for all sentient beings, wearing diligence’s armour, [with] diligent practices benefitting, cultivating [for] Great Nirvāṇa, everywhere [in] all Buddha lands, practising Bodhisattva practices, making offerings [to] all Buddha Thus Come [Ones, and] peacefully establishing Ganges’ sands [of] sentient beings, [for] abiding [on] Unsurpassable Awakening, [with] those cultivating all practices, again superior to [those] before, practising Universal Virtue’s path, then attaining transcendence. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of Buddhahood in next life, ease to most greatly practise the Bodhisattva path everywhere, make offerings to all Buddhas, and establish innumerable beings for Buddhahood]
若我成佛，国中菩萨，每于晨朝，供养他方，乃至无量亿那由他，百千诸佛，以佛威力，即以食前，还到本国。若不尔者，不取菩提。
[23] If I accomplish Buddhahood, Bodhisattvas within [my] land, in every early morning, making offerings [to] other directions, and even [to] immeasurable koṭis’ nayutas [of a] hundred thousand all Buddhas, with [the] Buddha’s mighty power, [will] immediately, with [it] before mealtime, return to [the] original land. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of ability to swiftly make offerings to all Buddhas]
若我成佛，于彼刹中，诸菩萨众，所须种种供具，于诸佛所，植诸善根，如是色类，不圆满者，不取菩提。
[24] If I accomplish Buddhahood, of [those] within that land, all Bodhisattva assemblies, [with] those needed all kinds [of] offering instruments, at all Buddhas’ places, planting all good roots, [are] thus [with] those forms [and] kinds not complete [and] perfect, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of ability to make desired offerings to all Buddhas, and plant all good roots]
若我当成佛时，国中菩萨，说诸法要，不善顺入一切智者，不取菩提。
[25] If, when I will accomplish Buddhahood, Bodhisattvas within [my] land, [when] speaking all Dharma essentials, [are] those not well complying [with, and] entering all-[knowing] wisdom, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of ability to expound complete wisdom]
若我成佛，彼国所生，诸菩萨等，若无那罗延坚固力者，不取正觉。
[26] If I accomplish Buddhahood, if those [in] that land born, all Bodhisattvas [and] others, [are] without Nārāyaṇas’ firm strength, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of indestructible and strong body]
若我成佛，周遍国中，诸庄严具，无有众生，能总演说。乃至有天眼者，不能了知所有杂类、形色、光相。若有能知及总宣说者，不取菩提。
[27] If I accomplish Buddhahood, everywhere within [my] land, all [its] adornments, [will] not have sentient beings able [to] expound [on] all. And even those [who] have [the] heavenly eye, [will] not [be] able [to] completely know all [their] mixed kinds, shapes, colours, [and] lights’ forms. If [there] are those able [to] know and instruct [on] all, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of life with immeasurable pure and excellent adornments]
若我成佛，国中具有无量色树，高百千由旬。诸菩萨中，有善根劣者，若不能了知，不取正觉。
[28] If I accomplish Buddhahood, [my] land within [will be] complete [with] immeasurable colours’ trees, [as] tall [as a] hundred thousand yojanas. Within all Bodhisattvas, if those [who] have good roots inferior, [are] not able [to] completely know [them, I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of Dharma knowledge and insight from immeasurable trees]
若我成佛，国中众生，读诵经典，教授敷演，若不获得胜辩才者，不取菩提。
[29] If I accomplish Buddhahood, if sentient beings within [my] land, studying [and] reciting [the] sūtras, instructing [and] elaborating [on them, have] those not obtaining supreme eloquence, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of wisdom and supreme eloquence]
若我成佛，国中菩萨，有不成就无边辩才者，不取菩提。
[30] If I accomplish Buddhahood, Bodhisattvas within [my] land, have those not accomplishing boundless eloquence, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of unlimited eloquence]
若我成佛，国土光净，遍无与等，彻照无量无数，不可思议诸佛世界，如明镜中，现其面像。若不尔者，不取菩提。
[31] If I accomplish Buddhahood, [my] land’s brightness [and] purity, [will be] everywhere, without [that] with [it] equal, completely illuminating immeasurable, innumerable [and] inconceivable all Buddha lands, like within clear mirrors, appearing [with] their faces’ images. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of clear sight of all Buddha lands]
若我成佛，国界之内地及虚空，有无量种香，复有百千亿那由他数，众宝香炉，香气普熏，遍虚空界，其香殊胜，超过人天珍，奉如来及菩萨众。若不尔者，不取菩提。
[32] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within [the] inland of [my] land’s ground and [its] empty sky, [they will] have immeasurable kinds [of] fragrances, again having [a] hundred thousand koṭis [of] nayutas’ number, [of] all treasures’ incense burners, [with their] fragrances universally perfuming, everywhere [in] empty space’s realm, [and] their fragrances’ excellence, surpassing human [and] heavenly treasures, offering [the] Thus Come [Ones] and Bodhisattva assemblies. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of immeasurable supreme fragrances for offering Buddhas and Bodhisattvas]
若我成佛，周遍十方，无量无数不可思议，无等界众生之辈，蒙佛威光，所照触者，身心安乐，超过人天。若不尔者，不取正觉。
[33] If I accomplish Buddhahood, everywhere [in the] ten directions, [of the] immeasurable, innumerable, inconceivable [and] unequalable realms’ kinds of sentient beings, [who] receive [the] Buddha’s mighty light, those [with] that illuminated [and] touched, [will have] bodies [and] minds peaceful [and] blissful, surpassing human [and] heavenly [beings]. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of physical and mental peace and bliss by light]
若我成佛，无量不可思议，无等界诸佛刹中，菩萨之辈，闻我名已，若不证得离生获陀罗尼者，不取正觉。
[34] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within immeasurable, inconceivable [and] unequalable realms’ all Buddha lands, [of the] kinds of Bodhisattvas, [who have] heard my name already, if [they do] not realise departure [from] birth [and] obtain dhāraṇīs, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of liberation and dhāraṇīs]
若我成佛，周遍无数，不可思议，无有等量，诸佛国中，所有女人，闻我名已，得清净信，发菩提心，厌患女身，若于来世，不舍女人身者，不取菩提。
[35] If I accomplish Buddhahood, everywhere within innumerable [and] inconceivable, without having equal measure, all Buddha lands, if all women, [having] heard my name already, attain pure faith, give rise [to the] Bodhi Mind, [and] revulsion [for] suffering [of the] female body, in future lives, [do] not abandon women’s bodies, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of liberation from female body]
若我成佛，无量无数，不可思议，无等佛刹，菩萨之众，闻我名已，得离生法。若不修行，殊胜梵行，乃至到于，大菩提者，不取正觉。
[36] If I accomplish Buddhahood, immeasurable, innumerable, inconceivable [and] unequalable Buddha lands’ assemblies of Bodhisattvas, [having] heard my name already, [will] attain departure [from] birth’s dharmas. If [there are] those not cultivating excellent purification practices, and even arriving at Great Bodhi, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of liberation and excellent pure practices until Buddhahood]
若我成佛，周遍十方，无有等量，诸佛刹中，所有菩萨，闻我名已，五体投地，以清净心，修菩萨行。若诸天人，不礼敬者，不取正觉。
[37] If I accomplish Buddhahood, everywhere [in the] ten directions, without having equal measure, within all Buddha lands, all Bodhisattvas, [having] heard my name already, [will have] five parts [of their bodies] thrown [to the] ground, [and] with pure minds, cultivate Bodhisattva practices. If all heavenly [and] human [beings, have] those not prostrating [to them, I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of respect by all heavenly and human beings]
若我成佛，国中众生，所须衣服，随念即至，如佛命善来比丘，法服自然在体。若不尔者，不取菩提。
[38] If I accomplish Buddhahood, sentient beings within [my] land’s those needed clothing, according [to their] thoughts, [will] immediately arrive, like Buddhas’ ordering [of] Well Come Bhikṣus, [with] Dharma robes naturally on [their] bodies. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of immediate wonderful clothing]
若我成佛，诸众生类，才生我国中，若不皆获资具，心净安乐，如得漏尽诸比丘者，不取菩提。
[39] If I accomplish Buddhahood, if all sentient beings’ kinds, just born within my land, [do] not all obtain supporting instruments, [with] minds pure, peaceful [and] blissful, like all Bhikṣus [who have] attained outflows’ end, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of supporting instruments, with pure peace and bliss similar to Arhats]
若我成佛，国中群生，随心欲见，诸佛净国，殊胜庄严，于宝树间，悉皆出现，犹如明镜，见其面像。若不尔者，不取菩提。
[40] If I accomplish Buddhahood, all living beings within [my] land, according [to their] minds, [with that] desired [to be] seen, all Buddhas’ Pure Lands’ excellent adornments, [will] in treasure trees between, all appear, similar to, [within] clear mirrors, seeing their faces’ images. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of immediate sight of all Buddha lands]
若我成佛，余佛刹中，所有众生，闻我名已，乃至菩提诸根有阙，德用非广者，不取菩提。
[41] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within other Buddha lands, all sentient beings, [having] heard my name already, and even [until] Bodhi, have those [with] all roots deficient, [and their] virtuous functions not great, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.
[Attainment of complete and great sense faculties]
若我成佛，余佛刹中，所有菩萨，闻我名已，若不皆善分别，胜三摩地名字语言，菩萨住彼三摩地中，于一刹那，言说之顷，不能供养，无量无数，不可思议，无等诸佛，又不现证六三摩地者，不取正觉。
[42] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within other Buddha lands, all Bodhisattvas, [having] heard my name already, if [are] not all [able to] well differentiate, supreme samādhis’ names, speech [and] words, [and with these] Bodhisattvas abiding within those samādhis, in one kṣaṇa’s moment of speaking [and] discussing, not able [to] make offerings, [to] immeasurable, innumerable, inconceivable [and] unequalable all Buddhas, moreover not immediately realising those six samādhis, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of supreme samādhis to swiftly make offerings to all Buddhas]
若我成佛，余佛土中，有诸菩萨，闻我名已，寿终之后，若不得生豪贵家者，不取正觉。
[43] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within other Buddha lands, have all Bodhisattvas, [having] heard my name already, if after their lives end, [have] those not attaining births [in] powerful, wealthy [and] honoured families, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of powerful, rich and honoured rebirth]
若我成佛，余佛刹中，所有菩萨，闻我名已，若不应时，修菩萨行，清净欢喜，得平等住，具诸善根，不取正觉。
[44] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within other Buddha lands, all Bodhisattvas, [having] heard my name already, if not immediately, cultivating Bodhisattva practices, [with] pure joy, [and] attaining Equality’s Abode, complete [with] all good roots, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of Bodhisattva practices, Equality’s Abode, and complete good roots]
若我成佛，他方菩萨，闻我名已，皆得平等三摩地门，住是定中，常供无量无等诸佛，乃至菩提终不退转。若不尔者，不取正觉。
[45] If I accomplish Buddhahood, other directions’ Bodhisattvas, [having] heard my name already, [will] all attain Equality Samādhi’s door. Abiding within this concentration, constantly making offerings [to] immeasurable [and] unequalable all Buddhas, and even [until] Bodhi, [to the] end not retrogressing. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of Equality Samādhi for making offerings to all Buddhas]
若我成佛，国中菩萨，随其志愿，所欲闻法，自然得闻。若不尔者，不取正觉。
[46] If I accomplish Buddhahood, [of] Bodhisattvas within [my] land, according [to] their aspirations, [of] those desired [to] hear Dharma, [they will] naturally attain hearing [of it]. If it [is] not thus, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of hearing the desired Dharma]
若我证得无上菩提，余佛刹中，所有菩萨，闻我名已，于阿耨多罗三藐三菩提，有退转者，不取正觉。
[47] If I realise Unsurpassable Bodhi, within other Buddha lands, all Bodhisattvas, [having] heard my name already, for Anuttara Samyak Saṃbodhi, have those retrogressing, [I shall] not obtain Right Awakening.
[Attainment of non-retrogressive progress towards Buddhahood]
若我成佛，余佛国中，所有菩萨，若闻我名，应时不获一、二、三忍，于诸佛法，不能现证不退转者，不取菩提。』
[48] If I accomplish Buddhahood, within other Buddha lands, all Bodhisattvas, if hearing my name, [do] not immediately obtain [the] First, Second [and] Third Forbearances, [and] of all Buddhas’ Dharma, [are] not able [to] immediately realise non-retrogression, [I shall] not obtain Bodhi.”
