劝诵经人
[23] Encouragement [For] People Reciting Sūtras
凡诵经人或持斋戒人固为善业，后世必受福报，无可疑者。然此报有尽，不能脱离轮回。
[Of] all people reciting sūtras, or people upholding [the] Purification Precepts, certainly by [their] good karmas, [in] later lives definitely receiving blessed rewards, [this is] without that doubtful. However, [as] these rewards have [a] limit, [they are] not able [to] liberate [and] depart [from] rebirth.
若更修西方，即超出轮回之外。
If [doing] even more [by] cultivating [to be born in the] Western [Pure Land, this] immediately transcends [to the] outside of rebirth.
罪恶人修者尚得往生，况持斋诵经，其往生上品必矣。
Those transgressive evil persons cultivating [will] still attain rebirth, moreover [those] upholding [the] Purification [Precepts] and reciting sūtras, whose rebirths [in the] High Grades [are] definite.
虽然，独修者其功小，劝人修者其功大。若能广以劝人，使更相劝化，人则以己持斋诵经之故，必信重其言，其功尤大。
Even though those alone cultivating [have] their merits ‘little’, those encouraging people [to] cultivate [have] their merits great. If able [to] widely with [this] encourage people, enabling even more [to] encourage [and] transform one another, [these] people then, with already upheld Purification [Precepts and] recited sūtras, [with] these reasons, [and with] definite strong faith [in] these words, [will have] their merits especially great.
现世则受恭敬归依之报，身后福德岂有尽耶？
[In this] present life then receiving [the] rewards of reverence [and] refuge, how can [the] blessed virtues after death have [a] limit?
