[51] [The] Lowest Grade [Of] Pure Land Birth [Is] Also Blissful [And] Swift

Those within [lotus] flowers [for] twelve great kalpas [in the Low Grade’s Low Birth (下品下生), which is only twelve days and nights in Āmítuófó’s (阿弥陀佛) Pure Land, are] with, when alive, transgressive karmas heavy and good roots shallow, thus [having their] flowers blossoming [with] the most delay.

[Note 1: As taught by Śākyamuni Buddha in Flower Adornment Sūtra《华严经》, ‘This Sahā World’s Śākyamuni Buddha’s land’s one kalpa, is of the Land Of Ultimate Bliss, Amitā(bha) Buddha’s land, as one day and one night.’ (此娑婆世界释迦牟尼佛刹一劫,于极乐世界阿弥陀佛刹为一日一夜。) Twelve days and nights of dwelling in Pure Land’s lotus flowers without suffering is definitely inconceivably shorter than otherwise countless kalpas of being in hell.]

However, [as the] happiness [and] bliss of these persons within [the] flowers, surpass [the] bliss of [the] third dhyāna (Of worldly bliss, [the] third dhyāna is [the] most foremost), again, how [is this] lacking [and] regretful?

[Note 2: The only ‘deficiency’ for the short while in the lotus flowers is not being able to encounter the Triple Gem.]
