福慧偈
Verses [On] Blessings [And] Wisdom

欲福慧双修，
先学生正信，
才多造福德，
令更易生慧。

Desiring [to have] blessings [and] wisdom both cultivated, first learn [to] give rise [to] right Faith, then create much blessed virtues, [to] enable easier growth [of] wisdom

信愿多念佛，
累积多福德，
佛光亦加持，
念佛开智慧。

[With] Faith [and] Aspiration, [having] much mindfulness [of the] Buddha[‘s name, this] accumulates much blessed virtues, [and with the] Buddha’s light also empowering, mindfulness [of] Buddha ‘opens’ wisdom.

助他生福慧，
代他念忏悔，
念佛念回向，
愿增福开慧。

Helping others [to] give rise [to] blessings [and] wisdom, [on] their behalf [practise] recitation [of] repentance, recitation [of the] Buddha[‘s name and] recitation [of] dedication [of meritorious virtues], wishing [them to] increase [in] blessings [for] opening [their] wisdom.

回向于他人，
福德减烦恼，
更易生正信，
而修福与慧。

[With] dedication to others, [the] meritorious virtues [will] lessen [their] afflictions, [to] easier give rise [to] right Faith, [to] then cultivate blessings and wisdom.
