【解】：「有世界名曰极乐」，序依报国土之名也。
[Explanation]: [With] ‘is [a] world named “Ultimate Bliss”‘, [this] Preface relies [upon the] name of [the] Reward Land.
竖约三际以辨时劫，横约十方以定疆隅，故称「世界」。
Vertically restricted [to the] three times with distinguishing [temporal] periods, horizontally restricted [to the] ten directions with definite [spatial] boundaries, [is] thus named ‘world’.
「极乐」者，梵语须摩提，亦云安养、安乐、清泰等，乃永离众苦第一安隐之谓，如下广释。
That ‘Ultimate Bliss’, [in] Sanskrit [is] ‘Sukhāvatī’ [i.e. ‘Blissful’], also called ‘Peaceful Nurturing’, ‘Peaceful Bliss’, ‘Pure Peace’ [and] others, thus forever departed [from] all suffering, of foremost tranquility [in] meaning, as below extensively explains.
然佛土有四，各分净秽：
However, [the] Buddha Land has Four [Lands], each divided [into the] pure [and] defiled.
凡圣同居土，五浊重者秽，五浊轻者净；
[The] Land [Of] Ordinary [And] Noble [Beings] Together Dwelling, [is with] those [of the] Five Defilements heavy defiled, [and] those [of the] Five Defilements light pure.
方便有余土，析空拙度证入者秽，体空巧度证入者净；
[The] Land [Of] Expedience With Remainder, [is with] those [with] analysis [of] emptiness clumsily delivered [and] realised entered defiled, [and] those [with] experience [of] emptiness skilfully delivered [and] realised entered pure.
实报无障碍土，次第三观证入者秽，一心三观证入者净；
[The] Land [Of] True Reward Without Obstacles, [is with] those one after another [with the] Three Contemplations realised entered defiled, [and] those [with] one mind [with the] Three Contemplations realised entered pure.

Three Contemplations (三观者):
(1) Emptiness Contemplation (空观)
(2) Provisional (False[ly Named]) Contemplation (假观)
(3) Middle [Path’s] Contemplation (中观)]
常寂光土，分证者秽，究竟满证者净。
[The] Land [Of] Eternal Still Light, [is with] those partially realised defiled, [and] those thoroughly [and] completely realised pure.
今云「极乐」世界，正指同居净土，亦即横具上三净土也。
Now called [the] Land [Of] ‘Ultimate Bliss’, precisely refers [to the] Together Dwelling Pure Land, [which] likewise is horizontally complete [with the] above three Pure Lands.
