[91] How To Understand Reciting Āmítuófó’s Name’s One Dharma Is Taking Āgada Medicine? 如何理解念佛一法是阿伽陀药?

念佛一法,如阿伽陀药。梵语阿伽陀,华言普生,亦云总治,以普生总治一切病故。

Reciting [Āmítuó]fó[’s name’s (阿弥陀佛)] [i.e. mindfulness of Buddha] one Dharma, [is] like [taking] Āgada medicine. [The] Sanskrit ‘Āgada’, [in] Chinese words [means] ‘universal life’, [is] also called ‘total cure’, with universal life totally curing all sicknesses thus.

念佛一法,能除八万四千烦恼,亦复如是。

Reciting [Āmítuó]fó[’s name’s] one Dharma, [is] able [to] eliminate eighty-four thousand afflictions, likewise thus.

所以念佛法门,包罗万象。一切诸法,无不从此法界流。一切诸法,无不还归此法界。

Therefore, Mindfulness [Of] Buddha’s Dharma Door, includes [the] ten thousand forms. All Dharmas, [are] without [those] not from this Dharma realm flowing. All Dharmas, [are] without [those] not returning back [to] this Dharma realm.

以其为诸法总持,故得无法不备,无机不收也。

With it as all Dharmas’ total retention, thus attained [is with] no Dharmas not complete, [and with] no capacities not received.
