[96] 莲宗诸祖为什么多皆专主持名？
[96] Why [Are The] Lotus Tradition’s All Patriarchs [With] Many All Focused Mainly [On] Upholding [Āmítuófó’s] Name?
◎ 末世众生，业重障深，依观经修观，尚难成就。是以莲宗诸祖，多皆专主持名。以持名易故，相续即生。
◎ [Summary]: [As this Dharma]-Ending Age’s sentient beings, [are with] karmic obstacles deep, relying on [the] Contemplation Sūtra cultivating visualisation, [it is] still difficult [to] accomplish. Therefore, [the] Lotus Tradition’s all patriarchs [are with] many all focused mainly [on] upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name. With upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name easy thus, continuously, [there will] then [be] birth [in his Pure Land].
念佛一法，当依净土经论为准。
Mindfulness [of] Buddha’s one Dharma, should rely on [the] Pure Land sūtras [and] treatises as [the] criterion.
末世众生，业重障深，依《观经》修观，尚难成就。
[As this Dharma]-Ending Age’s sentient beings, [are with] karmic obstacles deep, relying on [the] Contemplation Sūtra cultivating visualisation, [it is] still difficult [to] accomplish.
是以莲宗诸祖，多皆专主持名。以持名易故，相续即生。
Therefore, [the] Lotus Tradition’s all patriarchs [are with] many all focused mainly [on] upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name. With upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name easy thus, continuously, [there will] then [be] birth [in his Pure Land].
