[121] 为什么不能以「念念在净土,方可往生」教中下根人?
[121] Why [There] Cannot [Be] With ‘Thought [To] Thought On Pure Land, Then Can [There Be] Rebirth’ Teaching Middle [And] Low Roots’ Persons?
◎ 念念在净土,方可往生,乃上品往生者之身分。
◎ [Summary]: [On ‘with] thought [to] thought on Pure Land, then can [there be] rebirth’, thus [are the] identities of those [with] High Grades’ rebirths.
念念在净土,方可往生,乃上品往生者之身分。
[On ‘with] thought [to] thought on Pure Land, then can [there be] rebirth’, thus [are the] identities of those [with] High Grades’ rebirths.
若执定此义,以自求上品,何善如之?
If holding definitely [to] this meaning, with personal seeking [of a] High Grade, what good [is] like this?
若执定此义,以教中下根人,则阻人胜进不浅。何以故?
If holding definitely [to] this meaning, with [it] teaching Middle [and] Low Roots’ persons, then [is] hindering [of] others’ superior progress not shallow. Why thus?
以彼必以为此法太高,遂以卑劣自居,不肯修持耳。
With those definitely assuming this Dharma [is] too high, thereupon with considering [of] themselves [to be] lowly [and] inferior, not [being] willing [to] practise.
