[137] How I Was Sincerely Mindful Of Āmítuófó Despite An Infection
Dear Laoshi, on 28 May 2026. I was down with Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). It was severe and joining the retreat on 30 May didn’t seem doable then. After much self-doubt, I decided to proceed, and to count on Āmítuófó’s (阿弥陀佛) help to get me through the 3-hour PPF retreat.
That day, I took all precautions. Bringing extra pants and a towel, taking only a few mouthfuls of water. My chanting was surprisingly intense and sincere that day. My mind was (wholeheartedly) filled only with one thought, that Āmítuófó was there, and that he was helping me. Also surprisingly, I was able to forget my infection.
Āmítuófó is great! My prayer was answered. How relieved I was to complete the retreat with no mishap like wetting myself or running frantically to the toilet. (So pleased was I that I had no qualms, even though my infection persisted for the next 5 days.)
My Faith was brought to a new level at the retreat! 🙏🙏🙏
