[十二光如来赞偈]
[Verses Of Praise To The Twelve Lights’ Thus Come One]
无量光佛
[01] Immeasurable Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
智慧光明不可量，
故佛又号无量光。
有量诸相蒙光晓，
是故稽首真实明。
With wisdom’s bright light that cannot be measured, thus is the Buddha also named Immeasurable Light. As all measurable forms that receive his light are known, therefore prostrate to true reality’s bright one.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is immeasurable, it illuminates all measurable forms, (including us), for us to realise their truths — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
无边光佛
[02] Boundless Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
解脱光轮无限齐，
故佛又号无边光。
蒙光触者离有无，
是故稽首平等觉。
With liberation’s halo with the unlimited equal, thus is the Buddha also named Boundless Light. As those who receive his light’s touch depart from existence and non-existence, therefore prostrate to equality’s awakened one.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is boundless, it eliminates all dualistic delusions, for us to realise equanimity — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
无碍光佛
[03] Unobstructed Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
光云无碍如虚空，
故佛又号无碍光。
一切有碍蒙光泽，
是故顶礼难思议。
With light’s cloud unobstructed like space, thus is the Buddha also named Unobstructed Light. As all with obstacles can receive his light’s lustre, therefore prostrate to the difficult-to-conceive one.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is unobstructed, it eliminates all spiritual and physical impediments, for us to clear obstacles — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
无对光佛
[04] Incomparable Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
清净光明无有对，
故佛又号无对光。
遇斯光者业系除，
是故稽首毕竟依。
With pure bright light without having compare, thus is the Buddha also named Incomparable Light. As those encountering this light will have their karmic bonds eliminated, therefore prostrate to the ultimate refuge.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is incomparable, it eliminates all evil karmas, for us to transcend suffering — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
炎王光佛
[05] Flame King Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
佛光照耀最第一，
故佛又号光炎王。
三途黑暗蒙光启，
是故顶礼大应供。
With Buddha light’s prominent illumination the foremost, thus is the Buddha also named Light Of Flames’ King. As the three realms’ darkness receive his light’s opening, therefore prostrate to the great one who should be offered.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is the brightest, it also reaches all beings of the three lower realms, as paths for their exit — especially when they Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
清净光佛
[06] Pure Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
道光明朗色超绝，
故佛又号清净光。
一蒙光照罪垢除，
皆得解脱故顶礼。
With path’s light bright and colour surpassing, thus is the Buddha also named Pure Light. As once receiving his light’s illumination, transgressions and defilements are eliminated, with all attaining liberation, therefore prostrate to him.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is with purity, it purifies all transgressions from greed (and lust), for us to have contentment — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
欢喜光佛
[07] Joyful Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
慈光遐被施安乐，
故佛又号欢喜光。
光所至处得法喜，
稽首顶礼大安慰。
With loving-kindness’ light far-reaching giving peace and bliss, thus is the Buddha also named Joyful Light. As those at places his light reach attain Dharma bliss, therefore prostrate to the great comforter.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is with joyful compassion, it purifies all transgressions from hatred, for us to have peace and bliss — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
智慧光佛
[08] Wisdom Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
佛光能破无明暗，
故佛又号智慧光。
一切诸佛三乘众，
咸共叹誉故稽首。
With Buddha light able to break ignorance’s darkness, thus is the Buddha also named Wisdom Light. As all Buddhas and the Three Vehicles’ assemblies, all together highly praise, therefore prostrate to him.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is with wisdom, it purifies all transgressions from ignorance, for us to have wisdom — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
不断光佛
[09] Uninterrupted Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
光明一切时普照，
故佛又号不断光。
闻光力故心不断，
皆得往生故顶礼。
With bright light at all times universally illuminating, thus is the Buddha also named Uninterrupted Light. As with hearing of his light’s power, thus with minds uninterrupted, with all attaining rebirth in his Pure Land, therefore prostrate to him.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is uninterrupted, it helps all to be uninterrupted, for us to be continually diligent — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
难思光佛
[10] Difficult-To-Conceive Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
其光除佛莫能测，
故佛又号难思光。
十方诸佛叹往生，
称其功德故稽首。
With light, except by Buddhas, not able to be fathomed, thus is the Buddha also named Difficult-To-Conceive Light. As the ten directions’ all Buddhas praise rebirth in his Pure Land, and praise his meritorious virtues, therefore prostrate to him.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is inconceivable, it is praised by all Buddhas, for its inconceivable blessings for us — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
无称光佛
[11] Unnameable Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
神光离相不可名，
故佛又号无称光。
因光成佛光赫然，
诸佛所叹故顶礼。
With supernormal light departed from forms, that cannot be named, thus is the Buddha also named Unnameable Light. Because of his light, accomplishing Buddha lights prominent, that all Buddhas praise, therefore prostrate to him.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings is unnameable, its greatness cannot be fully named, for us to accomplish the same prominent light — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
超日月光佛
[12] Surpassing Sun And Moon Light Buddha
南无至心归命礼西方阿弥陀佛
With homage of utmost sincerity, I take refuge for life in, and prostrate to the Western Pure Land’s Āmítuófó.
光明照耀过日月，
故佛号超日月光。
释迦佛叹尚不尽，
故我稽首无等等。
With bright light’s illumination exceeding suns and moons, thus is the Buddha also named Surpassing Sun And Moon Light. As Śākyamuni Buddha’s praises are still not exhausted, therefore do I prostrate to the unequallable’s equal.
愿共诸众生，往生安乐国。
I vow, together with all sentient beings, to be reborn in the Land Of Peace And Bliss.
[As Āmítuófó’s light of blessings surpasses suns and moons, it is spiritually and physically unsurpassable, for us to benefit from most greatly — especially when we Niànfó (念佛) sincerely.]
《无量寿经》光明无量第十二
Immeasurable Life Sūtra’s Twelfth Chapter On Bright Light Being Immeasurable
佛告阿难：「无量寿佛，威神光明，最尊第一。诸佛光明，所不能及。或照百佛世界，或千佛世界，取要言之，乃照东方恒沙佛刹。南西北方，四维上下，亦复如是。或有佛光照于七尺，或照一由旬，二三四五由旬，如是转倍，乃至照一佛刹。
The Buddha told Ānanda, ‘Immeasurable Life Buddha’s majestic and supernormal bright light is the most honoured and foremost. All Buddhas’ bright lights are all not able to be compared with it. Perhaps illuminating a hundred Buddha worlds, perhaps a thousand Buddha worlds, essentially speaking of it, thus illuminating the eastern direction’s Ganges’ sands of Buddha lands. In the southern, western, northern, four intermediate, above and below directions, likewise thus. Perhaps having Buddhas’ lights illuminating to seven chǐs, perhaps illuminating one yojana, two, three, four, five yojanas, thus in turn for many times, and even illuminating to one Buddha land.
是故无量寿佛，号无量光佛、无边光佛、无碍光佛、无对光佛、炎王光佛、清净光佛、欢喜光佛、智慧光佛、不断光佛、难思光佛、无称光佛、超日月光佛。
Therefore, Immeasurable Life Buddha is named Immeasurable Light Buddha, Boundless Light Buddha, Unobstructed Light Buddha, Incomparable Light Buddha, Flame King Light Buddha, Pure Light Buddha, Joyful Light Buddha, Wisdom Light Buddha, Uninterrupted Light Buddha, Difficult-To-Conceive Light Buddha, Unnameable Light Buddha and Surpassing Sun And Moon Light Buddha.
其有众生遇斯光者，三垢消灭，身意柔软，欢喜踊跃，善心生焉。若在三塗极苦之处，见此光明，皆得休息，无复苦恼。寿终之后，皆蒙解脱。
If there are sentient beings who encounter this light, their three defilements will be eliminated, and their bodies and minds will be gentle and soft, with joyful enthusiasm and good minds arising then. If those at places of the three paths with utmost suffering, see this bright light, they will all attain cessation, without again having suffering and afflictions. After their lives end, they will all receive liberation.
无量寿佛，光明显赫，照耀十方。诸佛国土，莫不闻焉。不但我今称其光明，一切诸佛声闻缘觉诸菩萨众，咸共叹誉，亦复如是。
Immeasurable Life Buddha’s bright light prominently illuminates in the ten directions. All Buddha lands are without those who have not heard about it. Not only am I now praising his bright light, all Buddhas, Voice-Hearers, those by Conditions Awakened and all Bodhisattva assemblies, all together highly praise it, likewise thus.
若有众生，闻其光明威神功德，日夜称说，至心不断，随意所愿，得生其国。为诸菩萨声闻之众，所共叹誉，称其功德。至其最后得佛道时，普为十方诸佛菩萨叹其光明，亦如今也。」
If there are sentient beings, who hear of his bright light’s majestic supernormal powers and meritorious virtues, in day and night recite his name, with sincere minds uninterrupted, accordingly as wished, with that aspired, they will attain birth in his land. By assemblies of all Bodhisattvas and Voice-Hearers, they will be those together highly praised, with praise of their meritorious virtues. Until when they finally attain the Buddha path, universally by the ten directions’ all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they will be praised for their bright lights, likewise like now too.’
佛言：「我说无量寿佛光明威神，巍巍殊妙，昼夜一劫，尚未能尽。」
The Buddha said, ‘My speaking of Immeasurable Life Buddha’s bright light’s majestic supernormal powers, that are imposing with special wonders, in day and night for one kalpa, will still yet to be able to exhaust them.’
