西岸偈__
苦海无边，
回头是岸。
乐邦有路，
起信即生。
净土宗十三祖印光大师
Verse [On] Western Shore
Suffering’s ocean [is] boundless, [with] turning [of the] head is [the] shore. [To the] Blissful Country is [a] path, [with] giving rise [of] Faith [is] immediate birth.

[Note: To turn around is to repent and redirect oneself. With profound Faith (深信) in Pure Land, there should be sincere Aspiration (切愿) to be born there. With sincere Aspiration to be born there, there should be true Practice (实行) to be born there. Once there are these Three Provisions (三资粮), the lotus flower as the vehicle of our birth in Pure Land will be ‘born’ there.]
