边地偈
Verses On Borderland
深信不疑，
亦有愿行，
直入极乐，
速见三宝。
Those with profound Faith and no doubt, also having Aspiration and Practice, directly enter the Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss, to quickly see the Triple Gem.
多信少疑，
亦有愿行，
先入极乐，
边五百年。
Those with more Faith and less doubt, also having Aspiration and Practice, first enter the Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss’ borderland (边地) for five hundred years.
娑婆一劫，
极乐昼夜，
虽五百年，
下一秒尽。
As the Sahā World’s one kalpa, is the Land Of Ultimate Bliss’ one day and night, although for five hundred years, in less than a second ended there.
「此娑婆世界释迦牟尼佛刹一劫，于极乐世界阿弥陀佛刹为一日一夜。」
《华严经》
‘This Sahā World of Śākyamuni Buddha’s land’s one kalpa, in the Land Of Ultimate Bliss of Amitā[bha] Buddha, is as one day and one night.’

[Note: Border land’s duration for birth, which takes 500 years, is equivalent to being between the 7th Grade (i.e. Low Grade’s High Birth: 下品上生), which takes 49 days, and the 8th Grade (i.e. Low Grade’s Middle Birth: 下品中生), which takes 6 kalpas – as ‘Grade 7.5’ of the 9 Grades.]
