牢记偈
Verses On Remembering Clearly
前世今忘尽，
已学如未学。
不往西方升，
来世忘今生。
Past lives are now forgotten completely,
with that already learnt as if yet to be learnt.
Not ascending with rebirth in the Western Pure Land,
in the future life forgetting this present life.
佛字亦忘记，
从何学佛去？
若遗失兴趣，
可堕三恶去。
With the word ‘Buddha’ also forgotten,
from where will Buddhism be learnt?
If with lost interest,
there might be fall into the three evil realms.
一切生西者，
牢记诸前生。
已学为基础，
速往佛果升。
All those born in the Western Pure Land,
will clearly remember all past lives.
With that already learnt as foundation,
swiftly towards Buddhahood ascend.
