[00] Ten Kinds Of Vast And Great Practices And Vows

At that time, Universal Virtue Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, having praised the Thus Come One’s supreme meritorious virtues already, told all Bodhisattvas and Good Wealth, saying, ‘Good man, of the Thus Come One’s meritorious virtues, if the ten directions’ all Buddhas, passing unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of kalpas, in continuous succession expound them, they cannot be completely ended.

Main Principles’ Section

If desiring to accomplish this meritorious virtues’ door, you should cultivate ten kinds of vast and great practices and vows. What are as the ten? First, paying respects to all Buddhas. Second, praising the Thus Come Ones. Third, extensively cultivating making of offerings. Fourth, repenting of karmic obstacles. Fifth, accordingly rejoicing for meritorious virtues. Sixth, requesting turning of the Dharma wheel. Seventh, requesting Buddhas to abide in the world. Eighth, constantly following Buddhas to learn. Ninth, constantly complying with sentient beings. Tenth, universally dedicating.’

Good Wealth said, ‘Great Sage, what is paying respects, and even dedicating?’

[01] The First Great Vow: Paying Respects To All Buddhas

Universal Virtue Bodhisattva to Good Wealth said, ‘Good man, speaking of that, of paying respects to all Buddhas, of all exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s worlds, the ten directions’ three periods’ all Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of all Buddha World-Honoured Ones, I, with Universal Virtue’s practices and vows’ powers thus, with profound mind of faith and understanding, like facing them before my eyes, all with pure body, speech and mind karmas, constantly cultivate paying of respects. At each and every one Buddha’s place, all appearing with unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of bodies. With each and every one body, everywhere paying respects to unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of Buddhas.

When empty space’s realms exhaust, my paying of respects then exhausts. With empty space’s realms inexhaustible thus, my this paying of respects will not have a complete end. Thus, and even until sentient beings’ realms exhaust, sentient beings’ karmas exhaust, sentient beings’ afflictions exhaust, my paying of respects then exhausts. Yet, as sentient beings’ realms, and even afflictions do not have ending thus, my this paying of respects will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[02] The Second Great Vow: Praising The Thus Come Ones

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of praising the Thus Come Ones, of all exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s worlds, the ten directions’ three periods’ all lands, all extremely fine each and every one dust mote within, all have all worlds’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of Buddhas. At each and every one Buddha’s place, all have Bodhisattvas’ ocean-wide assemblies surrounding. I will all, with extremely profound and supreme understanding, manifest presently with knowledge and insight, in each with producing of that surpassing the heavenly goddess Eloquence’s subtle and wonderful tongue roots, with each and every one tongue root, producing inexhaustible sounds’ ocean. With each and every one sound, producing all words’ ocean, highly praising all Thus Come Ones’ all meritorious virtues’ ocean.

To the end of future’s limit, in continuous succession without interruption. Exhausting of the Dharma Realm, without that everywhere not reached. Thus with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my praising then exhausts. Yet, as empty space’s realms, and even afflictions do not have ending thus, my this high praising will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[03] The Third Great Vow: Extensively Cultivating Making Of Offerings

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of extensively cultivating making of offerings, of all exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s realms, the ten directions’ three periods’ all Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes within, each and every one has all worlds’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of Buddhas. At each and every one Buddha’s place, are all kinds of Bodhisattvas’ ocean-wide assemblies surrounding. I, with Universal Virtue’s practices and vows’ powers thus, giving rise to profound faith and understanding, manifest presently with knowledge and insight, all with supreme wonderful all offering instruments, then for making offerings.

With so-called flower clouds, garland clouds, heavenly music’s clouds, heavenly canopies’ clouds, heavenly clothing’s clouds, all kinds of heavenly incenses, anointing incenses, burning incenses, powdered incenses, these such and other clouds, with each and every one’s measure like the Sumeru Mountain King.

Lighting all kinds of lamps, butter lamps, oil lamps, all fragrant oil lamps, with each and every one lamp’s wick like Mount Sumeru, each and every one lamp’s oil like the great ocean’s water. With these such and other all offering instruments, constantly for making offerings.

Good man, of all offerings within, Dharma offering is the foremost. With so-called as spoken cultivating practice of making offerings, for benefitting sentient beings making offerings, for gathering and receiving sentient beings making offerings, for representing sentient beings suffering making offerings, for diligently cultivating good roots making offerings, for not relinquishing Bodhisattvas’ karmas making offerings, and for not departing from the Bodhi Mind making offerings.

Good man, like before, with making of offerings’ immeasurable meritorious virtues, compared with Dharma offering’s one thought’s meritorious virtues, of a hundred parts, are not comparable to one, of a thousand parts, are not comparable to one, of a hundred thousand koṭis of nayutas’ parts, a kāla’s part, a counted part, a numbered part, an analogy’s part, an upaniṣad’s part, likewise not comparable to one.

Why is this so? With all Thus Come Ones honouring and reverencing the Dharma thus. With as spoken practising, producing all Buddhas thus. If all Bodhisattvas practise Dharma offering, they then attain accomplishment of making offerings to Thus Come Ones. Thus cultivating practice, is true making of offerings thus.

Of this vast and great most excellent making of offerings, with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my making of offerings then exhausts. Yet, as empty space’s realms, and even afflictions are inexhaustible thus, my this making of offerings likewise will not have an end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[04] The Fourth Great Vow: Repenting Of Karmic Obstacles

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of repenting of karmic obstacles, Bodhisattvas should personally recite, “I, in past beginningless kalpas within, due to greed, anger and ignorance, gave rise to body, speech and mind, to create all evil karmas, immeasurable and boundless. If these evil karmas have that of substantial forms, exhausting empty space’s realms, they are not able to contain and receive them. I now, all with pure three karmas, everywhere in the Dharma Realm’s extremely fine dust motes of lands, before all Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas’ assemblies, with the sincere mind repent, to later not again create them, by constantly abiding in pure precepts’ all meritorious virtues.”

Thus with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my repenting then exhausts. Yet, as empty space’s realms and even sentient beings’ afflictions are inexhaustible thus, my this repenting will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[05] The Fifth Great Vow: Accordingly Rejoicing For Meritorious Virtues

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of accordingly rejoicing for meritorious virtues, of all exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s realms, the ten directions’ three periods’ all Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of all Buddha Thus Come Ones. From first giving rise to the Bodhi Mind, for all-knowing wisdom, diligently cultivating blessings’ accumulation, not sparing bodies and lives, passing unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of kalpas. In each and every one kalpa within, relinquishing unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of heads, eyes, hands and legs. For these such all difficult practices and ascetic practices, perfecting all kinds of pāramitās’ doors, realising and entering all kinds of Bodhisattvas’ wisdom grounds, accomplishing all Buddhas’ unsurpassable Bodhi and Parinirvāṇa, dividing and spreading of śarīras, and all good roots, I all accordingly rejoice.

And for other ten directions’ all worlds’ six realms’ four births’ all kinds, of all their meritorious virtues, and even of one dust mote, I all accordingly rejoice. For the ten directions’ three periods’ all Voice-Hearers and Pratyekabuddhas, those having learning and no more learning, all their meritorious virtues, I all accordingly rejoice. For all those Bodhisattvas’ cultivated immeasurable difficult practices and ascetic practices, with aspiration seeking unsurpassable Right And Equal Bodhi, their vast and great meritorious virtues, I all accordingly rejoice.

Thus with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my this accordingly rejoicing will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[06] The Sixth Great Vow: Requesting Turning Of The Dharma Wheel

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of requesting turning of the Dharma wheel, of all exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s realms, in the ten directions’ three periods’ all Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes within, each and every one has unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of vast and great Buddha lands. In each and every one land within, from thought to thought having unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of all Buddhas accomplishing Equal And Right Awakening, with all Bodhisattvas’ ocean-wide assemblies surrounding. Yet, I will all, with body, speech and mind karmas’ all kinds of skilful means, attentively and diligently request them to turn the wonderful Dharma wheel.

Thus with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, I will constantly request all Buddhas to turn the right Dharma wheel, not having a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[07] The Seventh Great Vow: Requesting Buddhas To Abide In The World

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of requesting Buddhas to abide in the world, of all exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s realms, the ten directions’ three periods’ all Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of all Buddha Thus Come Ones, those who will almost manifest Parinirvāṇa. And all Bodhisattvas, Voice-Hearers, those by Conditions Awakened, those having learning, no more learning, and even all good-knowing friends, I all request to not enter Parinirvāṇa. Passing of all Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of kalpas, for the desire to bring benefits and joy to all sentient beings.

Thus with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my this requesting, will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[08] The Eighth Great Vow: Constantly Following Buddhas To Learn

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of constantly following Buddhas to learn, like this Sahā World’s Vairocana Thus Come One, from first giving rise to the Bodhi Mind, diligent without retreating, with unspeakably unspeakable bodies and lives then for giving. Peeling skin for paper, breaking apart bones for pens, and pricking blood for ink, for copying sūtras, accumulating to be like Sumeru.

For reverencing the Dharma thus, not sparing bodies and lives, furthermore kings’ positions, cities and towns, palace halls and gardens, all those possessed, and with other all kinds of difficult practices and ascetic practices.

And even under the tree accomplishing Great Bodhi, revealing all kinds of supernormal powers, giving rise to all kinds of changes and transformations, appearing with all kinds of Buddhas’ bodies, dwelling at all kinds of assemblies, perhaps dwelling at all Great Bodhisattvas’ assemblies’ places for realising the path, perhaps dwelling at Voice-Hearers’ and Pratyekabuddhas’ assemblies’ places for realising the path, perhaps dwelling at Wheel-Turning Noble Kings’, minor kings’ family members’ assemblies’ places for realising the path, perhaps dwelling at kṣatriyas’ and brahmins’, elders’, laypersons’ assemblies’ places for realising the path, and even perhaps dwelling at heavenly beings’ and dragons’ eight divisions’ human-yet-non-humans’ and others’ assemblies’ places for realising the path.

Dwelling in these such all kinds of assemblies, with perfect sounds, like great thunder shaking, according to that they joyfully desire, maturing sentient beings, and even manifesting entering of Parinirvāṇa, of these such all, I all follow to learn.

Like the present World-Honoured Vairocana, thus exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s realms, the ten directions’ three periods’ all Buddha lands’ all dust motes within, all their Thus Come Ones, all likewise thus, in thought to thought within, I all follow to learn.

Thus with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my this following to learn will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[09] The Ninth Great Vow: Constantly Complying With Sentient Beings

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of constantly complying with sentient beings, is speaking of exhausting the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s realms, the ten directions’ lands’ ocean’s all sentient beings, with all kinds of differences. So-called of egg birth, womb birth, moisture birth and manifestation birth, perhaps having those relying on earth, water, fire and wind then born and abiding, perhaps having those relying on space, all grasses and trees then born and abiding, all kinds of living beings, with all kinds of physical bodies, all kinds of forms and shapes, all kinds of appearances, all kinds of lifespans, all kinds of clans, all kinds of names, all kinds of mind natures, all kinds of knowledge and insight, all kinds of desires and joys, all kinds of thoughts and actions, all kinds of majestic conduct, all kinds of clothing, all kinds of drinks and food, dwelling in all kinds of villages and towns, cities and palace halls.

And even all heavenly beings’ and dragons’ eight divisions’ humans-yet-non-humans and others. Those without feet, with two feet, four feet, many feet, having forms, without forms, having perception, without perception, not having perception and not without perception, these such and other kinds, I, with all of those accordingly comply and transform. With all kinds receiving and serving, and all kinds making offerings. Like reverencing fathers and mothers, like serving teachers and seniors, and Arhats, and even Thus Come Ones, equally without having differences. For all with sicknesses and suffering, for them becoming good doctors. For those who lost the path, showing that right path. For those in dark nights within, for them becoming bright light. For those poor, enabling to attain hidden treasures. Bodhisattvas thus equally benefit all sentient beings.

Why is this so? Bodhisattvas, if able to accordingly comply with sentient beings, are then with accordingly complying making offerings to all Buddhas. If with sentient beings, honourably and reverently receiving and serving them, are then with honourable and reverent receiving and serving of Thus Come Ones. If there are those enabling sentient beings to give rise to joy, they then enable all Thus Come Ones to have joy.

Why is this so? All Buddha Thus Come Ones, are with great compassion’s mind then as essence thus. Because of sentient beings then giving rise to great compassion, because of great compassion giving rise to the Bodhi Mind, because of the Bodhi Mind accomplishing Equal And Right Awakening.

For example, like sandy lands of vast wilderness within, there are great tree kings. If their roots attain water, their branches and leaves, flowers and fruits, will all be lush and flourishing. In births’ and deaths’ vast wilderness, the Bodhi Tree King is likewise thus. All sentient beings are then as tree roots, with all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas then as flowers and fruits. With great compassion’s water benefitting sentient beings, then able to accomplish all Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas’ wisdom flowers and fruits.

Why is this so? If all Bodhisattvas with great compassion’s water benefit sentient beings, they are then able to accomplish Anuttara Samyak Saṃbodhi thus. Therefore, Bodhi belongs to sentient beings. If without sentient beings, all Bodhisattvas in the end will not be able to accomplish Unsurpassable Right Awakening.

Good man, you, of this meaning, should thus understand. With regarding of sentient beings, with the mind of equality thus, then able to accomplish perfect great compassion. With great compassion’s mind according with sentient beings thus, then able to accomplish making of offerings to Thus Come Ones.

Bodhisattvas thus accordingly comply with sentient beings, with empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my this accordingly complying will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

[10] The Tenth Great Vow: Universally Dedicating

Furthermore, good man, speaking of that, of universally dedicating, is from first reverently prostrating, and even to accordingly complying, with all their meritorious virtues, all dedicating completely to the Dharma Realm’s empty space’s worlds’ all sentient beings. Vowing to enable sentient beings to constantly attain peace and bliss, without all sicknesses and suffering. Desiring practice of evil dharmas, to all not be accomplished. With that cultivation of good karmas, to all quickly be accomplished. Closing shut all evil realms’ doors, opening and guiding to human, heavenly and Nirvāṇa’s right paths. If all sentient beings, because of their accumulated all evil karmas thus, have those responding with all extremely heavy suffering’s fruits, I will all represent to receive them. Enabling those sentient beings, to all attain liberation, and to completely accomplish unsurpassable Bodhi.

Bodhisattvas thus with that cultivated dedicate. With empty space’s realms exhausted, sentient beings’ realms exhausted, sentient beings’ karmas exhausted, sentient beings’ afflictions exhausted, my this dedicating will not have a complete end. With thought to thought in continuous succession, not having interruption. With body, speech and mind karmas, not having weariness.

Good man, these are as Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas’ ten kinds of great vows, which are complete and perfect. If all Bodhisattvas, of these great vows, accordingly complying, inclining and entering, then will they be able to mature all sentient beings, then able to accordingly comply with Anuttara Samyak Saṃbodhi, then able to accomplish completely Universal Virtue Bodhisattva’s all practices and vows’ ocean. Therefore, good man, you, of this meaning, should thus know.

If there are good men and good women, completely with the ten directions’ immeasurable and boundless unspeakably unspeakable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of all worlds’ supremely wonderful seven treasures, and all human and heavenly beings’ most excellent peace and bliss, giving those thus to all worlds’ all sentient beings, making those thus offerings to all worlds’ all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, passing those thus Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of kalpas, in continuous succession without interruption, with those attaining meritorious virtues.

If again, there are people, who hear this Vows’ King, once passing by their ears, all these meritorious virtues, compared to the previous meritorious virtues, of a hundred parts, are not comparable to one, of a thousand parts, are not comparable to one, and even an upaniṣad’s part, likewise not comparable to one.

Perhaps again, there are people, with the profound faithful mind, of these great vows, accepting, upholding, studying and reciting them, and even copying one four-lined verse, they will quickly be able to eliminate the Five Uninterrupted Karmas.

All the world’s physical, mental and other sicknesses, all kinds of suffering and afflictions, and even Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of all evil karmas, will all attain elimination. All māras’ armies, yakṣas, rākṣasas, or kumbhāṇḍas, or piśācas, or bhūtas and others, who drink blood and eat flesh, all evil ghosts and gods, will all far depart. Perhaps then giving rise to the mind to be close, to guard and protect.

Therefore, if there are those people reciting these vows, their practices in this world, will not have obstacles. Like the moon within the sky, emerging from within clouds’ darkness. Of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas those praised, who all human and heavenly beings all should pay respects to, all sentient beings all should make offerings to. These good men, will well attain the human body, to perfect Universal Virtue’s all meritorious virtues. Not long after, they will like Universal Virtue Bodhisattva, quickly attain accomplishment of subtle and wonderful physical bodies, complete with the thirty-two great human’s forms.

If born as human and heavenly beings, at those places where they are, constantly dwelling in supreme clans. All able to break and destroy all evil realms, all able to far depart from all evil friends, all able to control and subdue all external paths, all able to be liberated from all afflictions. Like lion kings, subjugating herds of beasts. With worthiness for receiving all sentient beings’ offerings.

Once again, when these people approach life’s end, at the last kṣaṇa, with all roots all scattering and declining, all family members all abandoning and departing, all might and power all receding and lost. The Prime Minister and great ministers, palaces and cities, inside and outside, elephants, horses, chariots, precious jewellery and hidden treasures, these such all cannot again follow one another. Only with this Vows’ King, not abandoning and departing from one another, at all times, guiding them forward. Within one kṣaṇa, immediately attaining rebirth in the Land Of Ultimate Bliss.

Reaching already, immediately seeing Amitābha Buddha, Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva, Universal Virtue Bodhisattva, Contemplating With Ease Bodhisattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva and others. These all Bodhisattvas, with physical forms upright, and meritorious virtues complete, for them together surround. These persons will personally see themselves born from lotus flowers within, to receive the Buddha’s conferred predictions. Having attained conferred predictions already, with the passing of innumerable thousands’ millions’ koṭis’ nayutas of kalpas, universally in the ten directions’ unspeakably unspeakable worlds, with wisdom’s power, according with sentient beings’ minds then, for benefitting them.

Not long after, they will sit at the Bodhi place for realising the path, subdue māras’ armies, accomplish Equal And Right Awakening, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel. Able to enable Buddha lands’ extremely fine dust motes’ number of worlds’ sentient beings, to give rise to the Bodhi Mind. According to their root natures, teaching and transforming to mature them, and even exhausting of future kalpas’ ocean, extensively able to benefit all sentient beings.

Good man, those all sentient beings, if hearing, if believing this Great Vows’ King, accepting, upholding, studying and reciting it, extensively for people speaking of it, all their meritorious virtues, excluding Buddha World-Honoured Ones, are with the remaining, without those able to know them.

Therefore, you and others who hear this Vows’ King, should not give rise to doubtful thoughts, and should attentively accept it. Accepted already, then able to study it, studied already, then able to recite it, recited already, then able to uphold it, and even copy it, extensively for people speaking of it. Of all these people and others, in one thought within, all their practices and vows, will all attain accomplishment.

Those obtained blessings accumulated, will be immeasurable and boundless. Able to, in afflictions’ great suffering’s ocean within, pull out and rescue sentient beings, enable them to depart, to all attain rebirth in Amitābha Buddha’s Land Of Ultimate Bliss.’

[11] Verses

At that time, Universal Virtue Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, desiring to repeat proclamation of this meaning, universally contemplated the ten directions and said these verses:

[1]

‘In all the ten directions’ worlds within,
of the three periods’ all humans’ lions,
I, with pure body, speech and mind,
to all everywhere prostrate completely, without remainder.

[2]

With Universal Virtue’s practices and vows’ majestic supernormal powers,
universally appearing before all Thus Come Ones,
with one body again appearing as lands’ dust motes of bodies,
with each and every one, everywhere prostrating to lands’ dust motes of Buddhas.

[3]

In one dust mote within are dust motes’ number of Buddhas,
each dwelling in a Bodhisattva assembly within,
in the inexhaustible Dharma Realm’s dust motes likewise thus,
with profound faith that all Buddhas all fill them fully.

[4]

Each with all sounds’ ocean,
universally producing inexhaustible wonderful words,
exhausting of future’s all kalpas,
praising Buddhas’ extremely profound meritorious virtues’ ocean.

[5]

With all most excellent wonderful flower garlands,
music, anointing incenses and canopies,
these such most excellent adorning instruments,
I, with them offer to all Thus Come Ones.

[6]

With most excellent clothing, most excellent incenses,
powdered incenses, burning incenses, with lamps and candles,
each and every one, all like the Wonderful High Mountain gathered,
I all offer to all Thus Come Ones.

[7]

I, with vast and great supreme understanding’s mind,
and profound faith in all the three periods’ Buddhas,
all with Universal Virtue’s practices and vows’ powers,
universally everywhere offer to all Thus Come Ones.

[8]

From my past, those created all evil karmas,
all due to beginningless greed, anger and ignorance,
from body, speech and mind, of those arisen,
for all I now all repent.

[9]

The ten directions’ all sentient beings,
those of the Two Vehicles, having learning and no more learning,
all Thus Come Ones and Bodhisattvas,
of all their meritorious virtues, for all accordingly rejoicing.

[10]

To the ten directions’ all worlds’ lamps,
and those who most recently just accomplished Bodhi,
I now all request,
for turning of the unsurpassable wonderful Dharma wheel.

[11]

To all Buddhas, if desiring to manifest Parinirvāṇa,
I all, with utmost sincerity then request,
only wishing them to long abide for lands’ dust motes of kalpas,
to bring benefits and joy to all sentient beings.

[12]

With all prostrations’, praises’ and offerings’ blessings,
requesting Buddhas to abide in the world to turn the Dharma wheel,
with accordingly rejoicing, repenting and all good roots,
dedicating to sentient beings for reaching the Buddhas’ path.

[13]

I will follow all Thus Come Ones to learn,
cultivate Universal Virtue’s perfect practices,
make offerings to past all Thus Come Ones,
and with the present ten directions’ Buddhas.

[14]

And to future all Heavenly And Human Beings’ Teachers,
for all to have minds of joy, all perfectly,
as I vow to universally follow them in the three periods to learn,
to quickly attain accomplishment of Great Bodhi.

[15]

In all the ten directions’ all lands,
vast and great, pure and wonderfully majestic,
in assemblies surrounding all Thus Come Ones,
all at Bodhi Tree Kings below.

[16]

May the ten directions’ all sentient beings,
depart from worries and suffering, constantly have peace [and] bliss,
obtain extremely profound right Dharma’s benefits,
and eliminate afflictions completely, without remainder.

[17]

I, when for Bodhi cultivating practices,
in all realms within will accomplish past lives’ knowledge,
and constantly attain departure from the household life to cultivate pure precepts,
without defilements, without breaking and without omissions.

[18]

For heavenly beings, dragons, yakṣas, kumbhāṇḍas,
and even humans with non-humans and others,
in all sentient beings’ languages,
to all with all voices then speaking the Dharma.

[19]

Diligently cultivating pure pāramitās,
constantly not forgetting and losing the Bodhi Mind,
eliminating obstacles and defilements, without having remainder,
with all wonderful practices all accomplished.

[20]

From all confusions’ karmas and māras’ realms,
in worldly paths within attaining liberation,
similar to lotus flowers not attached to water,
likewise like the sun and moon not abiding in space.

[21]

Entirely eliminating all evil paths’ suffering,
equally giving all sentient beings joy,
thus with passing of lands’ dust motes of kalpas,
in the ten directions benefitting constantly and inexhaustibly.

[22]

I will constantly accordingly comply with all sentient beings,
exhausting of future’s all kalpas,
constantly cultivating Universal Virtue’s vast and great practices,
perfecting unsurpassable Great Bodhi.

[23]

May all those with my same practices,
in all places, be in the same assemblies,
with body, speech and mind karmas, all the same and equal,
with all practices and vows the same, cultivating and learning.

[24]

May all who benefit me, good-knowing friends,
for me clearly expressing Universal Virtue’s practices,
constantly vow to be with me in the same assemblies,
with me constantly giving rise to the joyful mind.

[25]

Vowing to constantly face and see all Thus Come Ones,
and all Buddhas’ disciples’ assemblies surrounding,
for them all giving rise to vast and great offerings,
exhausting future kalpas without weariness.

[26]

Vowing to uphold all Buddhas’ subtle and wonderful Dharma,
with light manifesting all Bodhi practices,
completing the pure Universal Virtue’s path,
exhausting future kalpas with constant cultivation.

[27]

I, in all existences within,
with that cultivation of blessings and wisdom, constantly and inexhaustibly,
with concentration, wisdom, skilful means and liberation,
will obtain all inexhaustible meritorious virtues’ treasury.

[28]

In one dust mote within are dust motes’ number of lands,
in each and every one land is a difficult to conceive Buddha,
in each and every one Buddha’s place’s assembly within,
I see constant expounding of Bodhi practices.

[29]

Universally exhausting the ten directions’ all lands’ ocean,
on each and every one hair tip in the three periods’ ocean,
in the Buddhas’ ocean and with their lands’ ocean,
I everywhere cultivate practices, passing kalpas’ ocean.

[30]

All Thus Come Ones’ speech is pure,
with each word complete with all sounds’ ocean,
according with all sentient beings’ minds with joyful sounds,
with each and every one flowing from Buddhas’ eloquence’s ocean.

[31]

The three periods’ all Thus Come Ones,
with their inexhaustible languages’ ocean,  
constantly turn the truth-inclined wonderful Dharma wheel,
that my profound wisdom’s power is universally able to enter.

[32]

I am able to deeply enter in the future,
exhaust all kalpas as one thought,
with the three periods’ all kalpas,
as one thought’s interval, I all enter.

[33]

I, in one thought, see the three periods,
all their humans’ lions,
likewise constantly enter Buddhas’ realms within,
with illusion-like liberation and mighty power.

[34]

On one hair tip extremely fine within,
appearing with the three periods’ majestic lands,
and on the ten directions’ dust motes of lands’ all hair tips,
I all deeply enter to adorn and purify.

[35]

Of all future world-illuminating lamps,
who accomplish the path, turn the Dharma wheel to awaken sentient beings,
complete Buddhas’ practices and manifest Parinirvāṇa,
I will all go towards and be close.

[36]

Quickly reaching everywhere with supernormal power,
with the universal door, everywhere entering with the Great Vehicle’s power,
with wisdom and practices, universally cultivating meritorious virtues’ power,
with majestic supernormal powers, universally covering with great loving-kindness’ power.

[37]

Everywhere purifying and adorning with supreme blessings’ power,
without attachment and without reliance, with wisdom’s power,
concentration, wisdom, skilful means and majestic supernormal powers,
universally able to accumulate Bodhi’s power.

[38]

Purifying all good karmas’ power,
destroying and eliminating all afflictions’ power,
subduing all māras’ power,
perfecting Universal Virtue’s all practices’ power.

[39]

Universally able to adorn and purify all lands’ ocean,
liberate all sentient beings’ ocean,
well able to differentiate all in dharmas’ ocean,
able to extremely deeply enter wisdom’s ocean.

[40]

Universally able to purify all practices’ ocean,
perfect all vows’ ocean,
be close to make offerings to all Buddhas’ ocean,
cultivating practices without weariness, passing kalpas’ ocean.

[41]

To the three periods’ all Thus Come Ones,
with most excellent Bodhi’s all practices and vows,
I all make offerings, to perfect cultivation,
with Universal Virtue’s practices, for awakening to Bodhi.

[42]

As all Thus Come Ones have an eldest son,
with his name called Universal Virtue Honoured One,
I now dedicate all good roots,
vowing that all my wisdom and practices will all be the same as his.

[43]

May my body, speech and mind be constantly pure,
with all practices and lands likewise thus,
with this such wisdom named Universal Virtue,
may I and he all be the same and equal.

[44]

I, for everywhere purifying with Universal Virtue’s practices,
with Mañjuśrī’s all great vows,
will fulfil those practices’ deeds completely, without remainder,
to future’s limit’s kalpas, constantly without weariness.

[45]

With my those cultivated practices without having measure,
obtaining immeasurable all meritorious virtues,
peacefully abiding within immeasurable all practices,
completely realising all supernormal powers.

[46]

For Mañjuśrī’s courageous and powerful wisdom,
with Universal Virtue’s wisdom and practices likewise thus,
I now dedicate all good roots,
to follow them all, with constant cultivating and learning.

[47]

As those the three periods’ all Buddhas praise,
are these such most excellent all great vows,
I now dedicate all good roots,
for attaining Universal Virtue’s especially excellent practices.

[48]

May I, when approaching, almost at life’s end,
completely eliminate all obstacles,
face and see that Amitābha Buddha,
immediately attain rebirth in his Land Of Peace And Bliss.

[49]

I, since reborn in that land already,
will manifest presently accomplishment of these great vows,
all perfectly and completely, without remainder,
bringing benefits and joy to all sentient beings’ realms.

[50]

In that Buddha’s assembly with all pure,
I will then, from a supreme lotus flower be born,
personally see the Thus Come One Of Immeasurable Light,
manifest presently to confer my Bodhi’s prediction.

[51]

Having received that Thus Come One’s conferred prediction already,
manifesting bodies of innumerable hundreds of koṭis,
with wisdom’s power vast and great, everywhere in the ten directions,
universally benefitting all sentient beings’ realms.

[52]

And even if empty space’s worlds exhaust,
sentient beings and karmic afflictions exhaust,
when these such are all inexhaustible,
my vows will ultimately be constant and inexhaustible.

[53]

In the ten directions’ all boundless lands,
with majestic all treasures offering to Thus Come Ones,
and with most excellent peace and bliss giving to heavenly and human beings,
passing all lands’ fine dust motes of kalpas.

[54]

If people, with this supreme Vows’ King,
once passing by their ears, are able to give rise to faith,
with seeking of supreme Bodhi’s mind very reverent,
they will obtain supreme meritorious virtues surpassing of those.

[55]

Immediately and constantly far departing from evil-knowing friends,
forever departing from all evil paths,
quickly seeing the Thus Come One Of Immeasurable Light,
to complete these Universal Virtue’s most excellent vows.

[56]

These people will well attain supreme lifespans,
these people will well come as humans within born,
these people not long after will be accomplished,
like those with Universal Virtue Bodhisattva’s practices.

[57]

In the past, due to being without wisdom’s power,
of those who created extreme evils of the Five Uninterrupted Karmas,
who recite this Universal Virtue’s Great Vows’ King,
in one thought, they will quickly all be eliminated.

[58]

With clans, families, kinds and countenances,
forms’ excellences and wisdom all perfect,
that all māras and external paths are not able to destroy,
worthy as those the three realms should offer.

[59]

Quickly reaching Bodhi’s Great Tree Kings,
seated already, subduing all māras’ assemblies,
accomplishing Equal And Right Awakening, turning the Dharma wheel,
universally benefitting all containing consciousnesses.

[60]

If people, with these Universal Virtue’s vows,
study, recite, accept, uphold and expound them,
their effects’ rewards are only by Buddhas able to realise and know,
and will definitely obtain the supreme Bodhi path.

[61]

If people recite these Universal Virtue’s vows,
I say those with lesser parts of good roots,
will in one thought all perfect them,
for accomplishing sentient beings’ pure vows.

[62]

With my these Universal Virtue’s especially excellent practices,
their boundless supreme blessings all dedicating,
universally wishing all sinking and drowning sentient beings,
to quickly go towards Immeasurable Light Buddha’s land.’

At that time, Universal Virtue Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, before the Thus Come One, having spoken these Universal Virtue’s Great Vows’ King’s pure verses already, the youth Good Wealth, became enthusiastic immeasurably. All Bodhisattvas all had great joy. The Thus Come One, in praise said, ‘Excellent, excellent.’

[12] Transmission Section

At that time, the World-Honoured One, with all noble ones, Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas, when expounding this such inconceivable liberation’s realm’s supreme Dharma door, was with Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva then as the foremost, all Great Bodhisattvas, and those matured six thousand Bhikṣus.

With Maitreya Bodhisattva then as the foremost, the Virtuous Kalpa’s all Great Bodhisattvas.

With the undefiled Universal Virtue Bodhisattva then as the foremost, those in the Position Of One Life To Replacement, abiding in Anointment Position, all Great Bodhisattvas.

And those from other ten directions’ all kinds of worlds, who universally came to assemble, all lands’ oceans of extremely fine dust motes’ number of all Bodhisattva Mahāsattva assemblies.

With the one of great wisdom Śariputra, Mahāmaudgalyāyana and others, then as the foremost, all Great Voice-Hearers.

Together with all human and heavenly beings’ all worlds’ lords, heavenly beings, dragons, yakṣas, gandharvas, asuras, garuḍas, kiṃnaras, mahoragas, human-yet-non-humans and others, all in the great assembly, hearing that the Buddha said, all had great joy, as they faithfully accepted to practise it.
