平常真念佛,临终加助念
[In] Ordinary Times [With] True Mindfulness [Of] Buddha, [When] Approaching [The] End [Of Life] Also [With] Support-Chanting
临终欲不昏沉,必须平常有真行持。平常泛泛悠悠,临终何能清白?…
[When] approaching [the] end [of life], desiring [to be] not muddle-headed [and] sunken, [one] must [in] ordinary times have true practice. [In] ordinary times drifting [and] leisurely, [when] approaching [the] end [of life], how [is one] able [to have] clear understanding?…
助念之事,利益甚大。若不为助念,便成破坏正念。勿道无功夫之人不能往生。
[The] practice of support-chanting, [has] benefits [that are] extremely great. If not for [others offering] support-chanting, [there might] then be destroying [of their] right mindfulness [of Buddha’s name with profound Faith and sincere Aspiration]. Do not say [that] of people without skills, [they are] not able [to be] reborn [in Pure Land then].
即有功夫之人,由家人破坏,亦不能往生。故当深劝家人同修净业,方可不致功败于垂成。或仍沉沦于生死苦海也。
Even of people having skills, due to family members’ destroying [of their right mindfulness, they] likewise [are] not able [to be] reborn [then]. Thus, [there] should [be] deep encouraging [of] family members, [to] together cultivate pure karma. Then can [this] not lead to efforts failing when almost succeeding, [to] perhaps still sink, into [the] suffering ocean [of] birth [and] death.
