First explaining general [teachings], speaking [of the] Thus Come [One, who] only for one great matter’s cause [and] condition arose in [this] world, thus [is his] whole lifetime’s teachings, [to] sum up their great meanings, only [with the] desire [to have] sentient beings guided, [to] awaken [and] enter [the] knowing [and] seeing of [the] Buddha.
Now, [with] this sūtra, [it] directly points sentient beings [to be] with [the] mind [of] mindfulness [of the] Buddha, [to] enter [the] Buddha’s knowing [and] seeing thus.
Separately thus focusing on this sūtra, moreover [has] ten meanings.
First, [with] great compassion sympathetically mindful [of those in this] Dharma-Ending [Age], for creating [a] bridge [to Buddhahood] thus.
Second, specially from immeasurable Dharma Doors, giving [this] supreme skilful means thus.
Third, [to] rouse [and] high-spiritedly [urge] ordinary beings [in the cycle of] births [and] deaths, [to] enable giving rise [to] joy[ful seeking of Pure Land and] revulsed [renunciation of the Sahā World] thus.
Fourth, [to] transform [and] guide [those of the] Two Vehicles [with] attachment [to] emptiness, [who do] not cultivate [for] Pure Land thus.
Fifth, [to] encourage [and] persuade Bodhisattvas [with] initial aspiration, [to] be close [to] Thus Come [Ones] thus.
Sixth, [to] completely gather all [with] sharp [and] dull roots, [to] all [be] delivered [and] liberated thus.
Seventh, [to] protect [and] uphold practitioners [with] many obstacles, [to] not encounter degeneration thus.
Eighth, of [that] pointed [to], then having [the] mind [with] thought, [to] attain entry [into] non-thought thus.
Ninth, [to] skilfully guide [with the] cause of rebirth, [to] truly awaken [to] non-birth thus.
Tenth, [to] repeatedly explain [the] path [to] cultivate practice, [as the] path of paths within thus.
