‘念佛时，毫无感应，
系不知佛力，心不恳切。
不知佛力，由未深研净土经论故也。’
‘When mindful of [Amitabha] Buddha[‘s name – “Amituofo”],
[yet] without the least response [i.e. sympathetic resonance],
this is all from not knowing the Buddha’s power,
[thus with the] mind not sincere [enough].
Not knowing the Buddha’s power,
is thus due to yet to deeply study the Pure Land sutras and commentaries.’
