Question: Will we bring our greed, hatred and delusion (three poisons) with us when we reach Pure Land?
Answer: We do not enter Pure Land pure, but to be purified, which means we do still have the three poisons when we enter Pure Land.
Q: Will we still experience the three poisons in Pure Land?
A: The 1st vow of Amituofo (Amitabha Buddha) says that there are no three lower realms (which represent greed, hatred and delusion) in his Pure Land. As such, we will not function with the three poisons due to its pure environment, which will only reduce and eradicate these poisons while the antidote virtues grow to be perfected.
The 16th vow of Amituofo says that there are no names of non-goodness in Pure Land too, which if there, might be evil influences. This means we will neither experience the ripening of past negative karma nor create new negative karma there; only creating pure karma (merits; meritorious virtues) that lead to Buddhahood with the simultaneous cultivation of wisdom.
