[13] 极乐四土各居住何人？
[13] [The Pure Land Of] Ultimate Bliss’ Four Lands Each [Has] What Persons Dwelling [There]?
◎ 带业往生者，居同居。断见思惑者。居方便。破无明者，居实报。无明净尽者，居寂光。
◎ [Summary]: Those [who] bring karmas [to be] reborn [there], dwell [in the Ordinary And Noble Beings’] Together Dwelling [Land] [凡圣同居土]. Those [who have] severed [mistaken] views [and] thoughts’ confusions, dwell [in the] Skilful Means [With Remainder Land] [方便有余土]. Those [who have] destroyed ignorance, dwell [in the] True Reward [Without Obstacles Land] [实报无障碍土]. Those [with] ignorance completely gone, dwell [in the Eternally] Still Light [Land] [常寂光土].
极乐四土，带业往生者，居同居。
[Of the Pure Land Of] Ultimate Bliss’ [极乐世界] Four Lands, those [who] bring karmas [to be] reborn [there], dwell [in the Ordinary And Noble Beings’] Together Dwelling [Land] [凡圣同居土].
断见思惑者，居方便。
Those [who have] severed [mistaken] views [and] thoughts’ confusions, dwell [in the] Skilful Means [With Remainder Land] [方便有余土] [like Voice-Hearers (声闻)].
破无明者，居实报。
Those [who have] destroyed ignorance, dwell [in the] True Reward [Without Obstacles Land] [实报无障碍土] [like Bodhisattvas (菩萨)].
无明净尽者，居寂光。
Those [with] ignorance completely gone, dwell [in the Eternally] Still Light [Land] [常寂光土] [like Buddhas (佛)].
又实报，约所感之果报说。寂光，约所证之理性说。
Also, [the] True Reward [Land, is] restricted [to] that connected fruit’s reward spoken. [And the] Still Light [Land, is] restricted [to] that realised Principles’ Nature spoken.
本属一土，讲者冀人易晓，故以分证者属实报，满证者属寂光。实则二土中，俱有分证满证。《文钞》中亦说述之。
[As they] originally belong [to] one land, those speaking [who] hope people [can] easier understand, thus [say that it is] with those partially realised belonging [to the] True Reward [Land, and] those fully realised belonging [to the] Still Light [Land]. Actually, within [the] two lands, both have [those] partially realised [and those] fully realised. [The] Collected Writings within also explain [and] narrate [on] this.
同居虽具三土，而未断惑者，止受用同居之境耳。
Although [the] Together Dwelling [Land is] complete [with the] three lands, but those [who have] yet [to] sever confusions, only benefit [from the] realm of [the] Together Dwelling [Land].
虽属带业往生之人，不可以凡夫定名之，以皆得三种不退故。
Although belonging [to] those persons [who] bring karmas [to be] reborn, [there] cannot [be] with ‘ordinary beings’ definitely naming [them], with all attaining three kinds [of] non-retrogressions [i.e. Position’s Non-Retrogression (位不退), Practice’s Non-Retrogression (行不退) and Mindfulness’ Non-Retrogression (念不退)] thus.
此乃以常途教理，与极乐往生所证者，相比较，细阅自知。
This [is] thus with Common Teachings’ principles, and that [in the Land Of] Ultimate Bliss reborn realised, compared [with] each other, [which with] detailed reading, [can be] personally known.
