[16] Why Those Born In The Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss Still Must Be Constantly Mindful Of The Triple Gem? 生极乐者为什么还要常念三宝?

生彼国者,常念三宝。彼虽已是僧,犹有上位之僧,如十住,十行,十回向,十地,等觉。

Those born [in] that land, [are] constantly mindful [of the] Triple Gem. Although those already are [of the] Saṃgha, [there] still is [the] Saṃgha of higher positions, like [the] Ten Abodes, Ten Practices, Ten Dedications, Ten Grounds [and] Equal Awakening.

岂无俗,便不可立僧之名耶?僧者和合为义。心与理和,心与道合,两无差别,故名为僧。又清净为义。

How can [they be] without [those] worldly, [who] then cannot establish [the] name [of the] Saṃgha? That Saṃgha [is with] harmonious unity as [the] meaning. [Those with the] mind and principles harmonious, [with the] mind and [the] path united, [these] two without difference, [are] thus named as [the] Saṃgha. [It is] also [with] purity as [the] meaning.

贪嗔痴等杂念妄相,了不可得,戒定慧等功德利益,具足圆满,是名真清净僧。

[Those with] greed, anger, ignorance, [other] kinds [of] mixed thoughts [and] false forms, completely unattainable, [with] precepts, concentration, wisdom, [other] kinds [of] meritorious virtues [and] benefits, complete [and] perfect, are named [as the] pure Saṃgha.

《华严经·十地品》,地地皆不离念佛,念法,念僧,况初生彼土之人乎哉?

[In the] Flower Adornment Sūtra’s Ten Grounds Chapter, [on] each and every ground, all [do] not depart [from] mindfulness [of] Buddha, mindfulness [of the] Dharma, [and] mindfulness [of the] Saṃgha, moreover those people first born [in] that land?
