[2] 阿弥陀佛有什么大愿？
[2] Āmítuófó Has What Great Vows?
◎ 阿弥陀佛有四十八愿，愿愿度生。不但上善称名，可以向往，即五逆十恶，发露忏悔，无论一念十念，佛亦必摄受之。
◎ [Summary]: Āmítuófó has forty-eight great vows, [with] each [and every] one vow [for] delivering beings. Not only [those of] superior goodness [who] recite [his] name, can look forward [to this], even [those with the] Five Heinous [Transgressions (五逆罪) and] Ten Evil [Karmas (十恶业)], [who] confess [and] repent, regardless [of with] one thought [or up to] ten thoughts [of his name, the] Buddha also will gather [and] receive [them].
[Note 1: The Five Heinous Transgressions (五逆罪) are (i) killing of father (杀父), (ii) killing of mother (杀母), (iii) killing of Arhat (杀阿罗汉), (iv) causing Buddha’s body to bleed (出佛身血), and (v) breaking up the harmonious Saṃgha (破和合僧).]
[Note 2: The Ten Evil Karmas (十恶业) are (i) killing lives (杀生), (ii) stealing (偷盗), (iii) sexual misconduct (邪淫), (iv) false speech (妄语), (v) double-tongued speech (两舌), (vi) abusive speech (恶口), (vii) frivolous speech (绮语), (viii) greedy desires (贪欲), (ix) anger (嗔恚), and (10) false views (邪见).]
阿弥陀佛，大慈大悲，有四十八愿，愿愿度生。
Āmítuófó, [with] great loving-kindness [and] great compassion, has forty-eight great vows, [with] each [and every] one vow [for] delivering beings.
不但上善称名，可以向往，即五逆十恶，苟能起大惭愧，发露忏悔，无论一念十念，佛亦必摄受之。
Not only [those of] superior goodness [who] recite [his] name, can look forward [to this], even [those with the] Five Heinous [Transgressions (五逆罪) and] Ten Evil [Karmas (十恶业)], if able [to] give rise [to] great shamefulness, confess [and] repent, regardless [of with] one thought [or up to] ten thoughts [of his name, the] Buddha also will gather [and] receive [them].
时雨润物，万物无不沾益。大海纳川，百川悉足汇归。
[Like] timely rain moisturising living beings, [the] ten thousand living beings [are] without [those] not wet [and] benefitted. [Like the] great ocean receiving rivers, [the] hundred rivers all fully converge [and] return [to it].
万修万去，的实非谬。
[With] ten thousand cultivating, [are] ten thousand going, [this is] true [and] not false.

四十八愿度众生，逆恶归心也来迎。
非是混滥无简择，怜彼是佛尚未成。
[With] forty-eight vows delivering sentient beings, [for those] heinous [and] evil [with taking of] refuge’s mind also coming [to] welcome. [This] is not [with] confusion unrestrained [and] without choosing, [but with] sympathy [for] those [who] are Buddhas, still yet [to be] accomplished.
