[246] How To ‘[In The] Future Life Become [A] Buddha’?
[On] those ‘With Chán [and] with Pure Land [practices, cultivators are] similar to tigers bearing horns. [In their] present lives as humans’ teachers, [in their] future lives becoming Buddhas’, these persons [have] thorough awakening [of the] Chán Tradition, understanding [their] minds [and] seeing [their] nature.
[Note 1: These teachings are on ‘Chán And Pure Land’s Fourfold Explanations’ 《禅净四料简》: https://purelanders.com/2009/12/15/brief-on-four-categories, especially the third verse.]

Also again, deeply entering [the] sūtra treasury, [to] completely know [the] Thus Come [One’s] skilful [and] true Dharma Doors. And of all those Dharma [Doors] within, also again, only with Faith [and] Aspiration mindful [of the] Buddha[‘s name] [i.e. Āmítuófó (阿弥陀佛)], [this] one Dharma [Door], with [it] as self-benefitting [and] benefitting others’ common Main Practice.
Those [of the] ‘Contemplation Sūtra’s High Grade’s High Birth, [who] study [and] recite [the] Great Vehicle’s [sūtras, and] understand [the] supreme truth, are the same as these. These persons have great wisdom [and] have great eloquence.
[With] evil demons [and those of] external paths, hearing [their] names, [then] losing [their] guts. Like tigers that bear horns, [with] power [and] boldness without compare.
[When there] are those coming [to] learn, according [to their] capacities speaking [the] Dharma. [For] those [who] should [be] with ‘Chán [And] Pure [Land] both cultivated’ received, then with ‘Chán [and] Pure [Land] both cultivated’ receiving them. [For] those [who] should [be] with focused cultivation [of] Pure Land [practice], then with focused cultivation [of] Pure Land [practice] receiving them. Regardless [of those with] high, middle [or] low roots, without one not by them benefitted, how can [they] not [be] human [and] heavenly [beings’] guiding teachers?
When approaching [life’s] end, receiving [the] Buddha’s reception [and] guidance, [to be] reborn [in the] High Grade. [In] one snap [of the] fingers’ moment, [with] flowers blossoming seeing [the] Buddha, realising Non-Birth’s Forbearance.
Those most low [will] immediately realise [the] Complete Teachings’ First Abode, also having [those] sudden surpassing all positions, [to] arrive [at] Equal Awakening. [Those of the] Complete Teachings’ First Abode, [are] immediately able [to] manifest bodies [in the] Hundred Realms [to] become Buddhas.
[Note 2: The Hundred Realms (百界) are the Ten Dharma Realms (十法界) times ten, as each one realm also has the Ten Dharma Realms within, in interconnected ways.]
[Note 3: Ten Dharma Realms (十法界): The Six Ordinary Realms (六凡) of (i) Hell Beings (地狱众生), (ii) Hungry Ghosts (饿鬼), (iii) Animals (畜生), (iv) Human Beings (人), (v) Asuras (阿修罗), (vi) Heavenly Beings (天人), and the Four Noble (Enlightened) Realms (四圣) of (vii) Voice-Hearers / Śrāvakas (声闻) / Arhats ([阿]罗汉), (viii) Pratyekabuddhas (辟支佛) / Those By Conditions Awakened (缘觉) / Lone Awakeners (独觉), (ix) Bodhisattvas (菩[提]萨[埵]) and (x) Buddhas (佛[陀]).]
What [is] more, after this, [with] position [after] position doubly superior, up until [the] Forty-First Equal Awakening’s Position? Thus saying, ‘[in their] future lives becoming Buddhas.’
