[21] How [The] Three Provisions Interpenetrate [With The] Three Powers
Speaking of mindfulness [of] Buddha, [this] one practice, [that] most important [is for] arriving [at] liberation [from the cycle of] birth [and] death.
Since for liberation [from the cycle of] birth [and] death, then [for the] suffering of [the cycle of] birth [and] death, personally give rise [to] revulsion’s mind. [For the] bliss of [the] Western [Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss], personally give rise [to the] joyful mind.
In this way, then [are] Faith [and] Aspiration, [these] two dharmas, immediately [with] mindfulness interpenetrated [and] complete [as the Three Provisions].
[Note 1: The Three Provisions (三资粮) are (i) Faith (信), (ii) Aspiration (愿) and (iii) Practice (行). The Three Powers below work through these Three Provisions and vice versa, interconnectedly.]
Again, moreover with sincere wholeheartedness, like [a] child recollecting [the] mother then mindful, then [will the] Buddha’s power, Dharma’s power, [and] one’s mind’s Faith [and] Aspiration’s meritorious virtues’ power, [these] three dharmas interpenetrate [and] manifest.
[Note 2: The Three Powers (三力) are (i) Buddha’s Power (佛力), which is also Other-Power (他力), (ii) Dharma’s Power (法力), which is/are the law/s of nature (自然法则), and (iii) Mind’s Power (心力), which is also Self-Power (自力). The Three Provisions above work through these Three Powers and vice versa, interconnectedly.]
Similar to [when] shining [with the] sun up in the sky, even if [there] is thick frost [and] layers [of] ice, [they will] not long thus be melted.
[With the] initial mind mindful [of the] Buddha, when yet [to] reach personal realisation of samādhi, who [is] able [to] not have deluded thoughts? That valuable [is the] mind constantly aware [and] illuminating, [that does] not follow delusions [to be] transformed.
