发决定心往生净土
[42] Give Rise [To The] Decisive Mind [For] Rebirth [In] Pure Land
当须发决定心，临终定欲往生西方。
[There] must [be] giving rise [of the] decisive mind, [when] approaching [life’s] end, [with the] decisive desire [for] rebirth [in the] Western [Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss (西方极乐世界)].
且莫说碌碌庸人之身，不愿更受。即为人天王身，及出家为僧，一闻千悟，得大总持，大宏法化，普利众生之高僧身，亦视之若毒荼罪薮，决定不生一念欲受之心。
Moreover, not speaking [of the] bodies of busy mediocre persons, not wishing [to] again receive [them]. Even [what] are called human [and] heavenly kings’ bodies, and [those] leaving [the] household [life to] be monastics, [who] once hear [the Dharma have a] thousand awakenings, attain great dhāraṇīs, [and] greatly propagate [the] Dharma [to] transform, [of these] high monastics’ bodies that universally benefit sentient beings, also seeing them [to be] like poisonous thistles [and] transgressions’ lairs, decisively not giving rise [to the] mind of one thought [with the] desire [to] receive [them].
如是决定，则己之信愿行，方能感佛。佛之誓愿，方能摄受。
Thus decisive, then [will the] Faith, Aspiration [and] Practice of oneself, then [be] able [to] connect [to the] Buddha [Āmítuófó (阿弥陀佛)]. [The] vows of [the] Buddha, [are] then able [to] gather [and] receive [one].
感应道交，蒙佛接引，直登九品，永出轮回矣。
[With] connection [and] response [for] mutual interaction, receiving [the] Buddha’s reception [and] guidance, directly ascend [the] nine grades, [to] forever exit [from] rebirth.
