[63] What Must Be Cultivated For Pure Karmas [160] What Are The Requirements Of Cultivating Pure Karmas?

[63] [What] Must [Be] Cultivated [For] Pure Karmas

[Of] all those cultivating pure karmas, first, [they] must strictly uphold [the] pure precepts, second, [they] must give rise [to the] Bodhi Mind (Bodhicitta), [and] third, [they] must [be] complete [with] true Faith [and] Aspiration [to reach Pure Land].

[The] precepts are [the] foundations of all Dharma [teachings. The] Bodhi Mind is [the] chief commander of cultivating [the] path. Faith [and] Aspiration are [the] leading guides of rebirth [in Pure Land].

[Ref: #63 / 3.1.11]

[The] Pure Land Dharma Door, [is] with Faith, Aspiration [and] Practice, [these] three Dharma [teachings] as principles.

[If] not [with] Faith, [with] what cause [is there for] giving rise [to] Aspiration? [If] not [with] Aspiration, [with] what cause [is there for] giving rise [to] Practice? [If] not [with] upholding [of Āmítuófó’s] name’s (阿弥陀佛) wonderful Practice, [with] what cause [is there for] realising that [with] Faith [in], then fulfilling that Aspiration?

‘Attaining birth [in Āmítuófó’s Pure Land] or not, [is] all due [to] Faith [and] Aspiration [being] present [or] absent. [The] grade [of birth being] high [or] low, [is] all due to [the Practice of] upholding [Āmítuófó’s] name [being] deep [or] shallow.’

Faith, Aspiration [and] Practice, [are] like [a] cauldron’s three legs, lacking one then stumbling.
