大势至法王子，与其同伦五十二菩萨，即从座起， 顶礼佛足, 而白佛言：
Great Power Arrived, [the] Dharma Prince [i.e. Mahāsthāmaprāpta Bodhisattva], with his similar peers [of] fifty-two Bodhisattvas, immediately from [their] seats arose, prostrated [at the] Buddha’s feet, and to [the] Buddha said,
‘I recollect [that] past Ganges river’s sands [of] kalpas [ago, there] was [a] Buddha [who] arose [in the] world, named “Immeasurable Light”.
Twelve Thus Come [Ones], continually succeeded [for] one kalpa.
Its last Buddha, [is] named “Surpassing Sun [And] Moon Light”.
That Buddha taught me [the] Samādhi [From] Mindfulness [Of] Buddha.
For example, [there] are persons, [with] one focused in recollecting, [and] one person focused [on] forgetting. Thus, these two persons, if encountering [each other, is as if] not encountering [each other], or [if] seeing [each other, is as if] not seeing [each other].
[If these] two persons recollect each other, [with the] duo’s recollection [and] mindfulness [being] profound, thus, and even from life to life, similar to form [and] shadow, [they will] not depart from each other.
[The] ten directions’ Thus Come [Ones, are] sympathetically mindful [of] sentient beings, like [a] mother recollecting [her] child.
If [the] child runs away, although [there is] recollection, what [would it be] for?
[The] child, [if] recollecting [the] mother, like when [the] mother recollects, [the] mother [and] child, passing through life, [will] not be far apart [from] each other.
If sentient beings’ minds, recollect [Amitābha] Buddha, [or are] mindful [of the] Buddha[‘s name: “Āmítuófó” (阿弥陀佛)], manifesting [in the] present [or in the] future, [they] will definitely see [the] Buddha, [with the] Buddha not far away.
Not needing skilful means, [by] themselves attaining awakening [of their] minds.
Like persons perfumed [by] incense, [whose] bodies have fragrance, this [is] then named “Adornment [With] Fragrance [And] Light”.
I, [when on the] fundamental causal ground, with [my] mind [being] mindful [of the] Buddha, entered Non-Arising Forbearance.
Now in this world, gathering people mindful [of the] Buddha, [for] “return” to [his] Pure Land.
[The] Buddha asked [about the] Perfect Penetration, [and] I [have] no [other] choice.
Gathering all six roots, [with] pure mindfulness [in] continuous succession, [to] attain Samādhi, this is [the] foremost.’
