[226] How To Understand That Reciting Āmítuófó’s Name Is Life’s One Most Important Matter? 如何理解念佛是人生一件最要事?

念佛是人生一件最要事,非因亲丧方念,平时便不念。

Reciting [Āmítuó]fó[’s name (阿弥陀佛)] is life’s one most important matter, not [only] because [of your] parents’ funerals then reciting, [in] normal times then not reciting.

亲丧乃系为亲起见,实即以亲死,引汝等同证永劫不死之一大事也,当知感恩。

[As with your] parents’ funerals thus connected, [they were] for [you to] personally give rise [to right] views, [this] truly then, [is] with [your] parents’ deaths, leading you all, [to] together realise [the] one great matter of [attainment, to be with] eternal kalpas without death, [you] should know [to be] grateful.

能认真念佛,即为报恩。

[If] able [to] earnestly recite [Āmítuó]fó[’s name, this] then is [to] repay [their] kindness.
