[39] What Are [The] Meanings [Of The] Rebirth Treatise And [The] Rebirth Treatise’s Commentary? What Special Features [Do They] Have?
◎ 详示净土庄严,如来法力,菩萨功德。凡见闻者,悉愿往生。其特点,文义显豁直捷。真能上继匡庐,下启天台、西河、长安等。
◎ [Summary]: Detailedly teaching [the] Pure Land’s adornments, [the] Thus Come [One’s] Dharma power [and] Bodhisattvas’ meritorious virtues. All those [who] see [and] hear [it] [i.e. Rebirth Treatise《往生论》], [will] all aspire [to be] reborn [there]. Its [i.e. Rebirth Treatise’s Commentary《往生论注》] special features [are with] text [and] meanings evident [and] straightforward. Truly able [to have] higher succeeding [of] Kuānglú [i.e. Mount Lú’s (庐山) Pure Land Tradition (净土宗)], [and] lower establishing [of the] Tiāntái [Tradition] [天台宗], Xīhé [i.e. Huàyán Tradition (华严宗)], Cháng’ān [i.e. Three Treatise Tradition (三论宗)] [and] others.

天亲菩萨广造诸论,宏阐佛乘。复宗《无量寿经》,作《愿生偈论》,示五门修法,令毕竟得生。
Vasubandhu Bodhisattva widely created many treatises, [to] greatly explain [the] Buddha Vehicle. Reviving [the] essence [of the] Immeasurable Life Sūtra, [he] composed Aspiration [For] Birth’s Verses’ Treatise, [to] teach [the] five doors’ cultivation methods, [which] lead in the end, [to] attainment [of] birth.
具显礼拜、赞叹、作愿、观察、回向之法。
Completely showing [the] methods of Reverent Prostration, High Praising, Making Vows, Clear Contemplation [and] Dedication.
于观察门,详示净土庄严,如来法力,菩萨功德。凡见闻者,悉愿往生。
For Clear Contemplation’s Door, detailedly teaching [the] Pure Land’s adornments, [the] Thus Come [One’s] Dharma power [and] Bodhisattvas’ meritorious virtues. All those [who] see [and] hear [them, will] all aspire [to be] reborn [there].

昙鸾法师,撰《注》详释,直将弥陀誓愿,天亲衷怀,彻底圆彰,和盘托出。
Dharma Master Tánluán wrote [the] Commentary [to] detailedly explain, directly with [Ā]mítuó[fó’s] vows, [and] Vasubandhu’s heartfelt intentions, thoroughly [and] completely revealed, ‘together [with the] tray held out [with his hands]’.
若非深得佛心,具无碍辩,何克臻此?
If not deeply attaining [the] Buddha’s mind, [and] possessing unobstructed eloquence, how [is he] able [to] reach this?
