蕅祖示豁一

第一要生信心，第二要惧生死。
俯仰旷劫轮回，毕竟如何得止？
听我血泪苦言，庶不终为糠粃。
华严圆顿经王，普贤法界宗主。
十愿导归极乐，便是玄极微旨。
若更别扣祖关，都是奴仆婢使。
果然奇特丈夫，卓信心作心是。
念念相应不差，岂肯水中渴死？
瞬息旋转万流，一句弥陀到底。

Patriarch Ǒu[yì’s] Teaching [To] Huōyī

[The] first essential [is to] give rise [to the] faithful mind, [and the] second essential [is to] fear [the cycle of] birth [and] death. Lowering [and] raising [our] heads [in] past kalpas [with] rebirths [in suffering’s ocean], after all, how [can we] attain [their] end? Listen [to] my painstaking words [with] tears [of] blood, [that] hopefully [will] not end as chaff [and] husk. [The] Flower Adornment [is] complete [and] sudden [awakening’s] Sūtra King, [with] Universal Virtue [Bodhisattva as the] Dharma Realm [i.e. Flower Adornment] Tradition’s Master. [His] Ten Vows [that] guide [for] return [to the Pure Land Of] Ultimate Bliss, precisely is [with reaching it as the] profoundly ultimate [and] subtle intention. If furthermore [with] others, holding firmly [to] Patriarchs’ [gōng’àn: 公案] barriers, all are servants [and] maids. Certainly [as] outstanding [and] great persons, [what the] profoundly faithful mind becomes, [the] mind is, [with mindfulness of Buddha. From] thought [to] thought [with] correspondence not lacking, how can [there be those] willing [to be] within water, [yet] thirsting [to] death? In a wink of an eye, transforming around ten thousand streams [of deluded thoughts, with] one line [of] Āmítuófó [阿弥陀佛] [reaching] to [the] bottom.
