选净土偈
应韦提希，世尊显现，无量净土，任由挑选。
韦提唯选，极乐世界，请佛教授，生彼国土。
诸多净土，何为此选？观经印证，大经愿文。
法藏菩萨，今成弥陀，曾向佛陀，发如是愿：
「令我作佛，国土第一。其众奇妙，道场超绝。
国如泥洹，而无等双。我当愍哀，度脱一切。」
佛为广说，二百十亿，诸佛刹土，善恶粗妙。
悉现与之，五劫思维，四十八愿，成就上土。
韦提所以，别无选择，自然直选，第一净土。
王后所选，代表明智，犹豫众生，也应选之。
Verses On Choice Of Pure Land
In reply to Queen Vaidehī, the World-Honoured Śākyamuni Buddha (释迦牟尼佛), manifested the appearance of immeasurable Pure Lands, allowing her to choose.
Vaidehī only chose the Land Of Ultimate Bliss, requesting the Buddha to instruct, on how to be born in that land.
Of all many Pure Lands, why was she with this choice? The Contemplation Sūtra confirms the Greater Sūtra’s (Immeasurable Life Sūtra)《无量寿经》aspiration text.
Dharma Treasury Bodhisattva, now having become Amitābha Buddha (阿弥陀佛), formerly to King Of World With Ease Buddha (世自在王佛), gave rise to this vow thus,
‘If I become a Buddha, my land will be the foremost. Its assembly will be unique and wonderful, in a place for realising the path surpassing.
My land will be like Nirvāṇa, and without equal or two. I will, with empathy, deliver and liberate all.’
The Buddha for him extensively spoke of two hundred and ten koṭīs of all Buddha lands, with their good and evil, coarseness and subtle wonders.
With all appearing for him, for five kalpas contemplating forty-eight great vows, for accomplishing the above Pure Land.
Vaidehī, therefore, was without any other choice, naturally with the direct choice, of the foremost Pure Land.
As that choice of the Queen, represents that with wisdom, hesitating sentient beings should choose it too.
[According to the Lotus Flower Treasury World’s (莲华藏世界) classification system, ‘two hundred and ten koṭīs’ represents the ten directions’ immeasurable lands’ number.]
