菩提心偈
Verses On Bodhicitta
诸信愿行者，
发二种心愿，
自度或度他，
其二含初愿。
All those with Faith, Aspiration and Practice,
give rise to two kinds of Aspirations,
for self-deliverance or deliverance of others,
with the second encompassing the first Aspiration.
为自了生死，
即出离心愿。
为了众生死，
即菩提心愿。
For self-liberation from birth and death,
this is renunciation’s Aspiration.
For liberation of sentient beings from birth and death,
this is Bodhicitta’s Aspiration.
愿度无量众，
愿则无量强，
更易生西方，
得生上品享。
Aspiring to deliver immeasurable beings,
this Aspiration is thus immeasurably powerful,
even easier to be born in the Western Pure Land,
to attain and enjoy births of the highest grades.
