以称【阿弥陀佛】名故,
诸罪消灭,
即是多善根福德因缘。

With reciting [of Āmítuófó’s] name thus, many transgressions [are] eliminated, [which] then is [with] many good roots [and] blessed virtues [as] cause [and] condition.

问:依释迦牟尼佛在《阿弥陀经》中所教,「不可以少善根福德因缘,得生彼国。」何为够善根福德因缘,才能得生极乐世界?
Question: According to Śākyamuni Buddha in the Amitā[bha] Sūtra, ‘[One] cannot, with few good roots [and] blessed virtues [as] cause [and] condition, attain birth [in] that [Pure] Land [of Ultimate Bliss of Amitābha Buddha].’ How can one have enough of them?
答:依释迦牟尼佛在《阿弥陀佛根本秘密神咒经》中所教,「若有善男子,善女人,闻说阿弥陀佛,执持名号,若一日、若二日、若三日、若四日、若五日、若六日、若七日,一心不乱,专持名号,以称名故,诸罪消灭,即是多善根福德因缘。」
Answer: According to Śākyamuni Buddha in the Sūtra [On] Amitā[bha] Buddha’s Fundamental Esoteric Spiritual Mantra, ‘If [there] are good men, [and] good women, [who] hear [the name of] Amitā[bha] Buddha [i.e. Āmítuófó], firmly uphold [mindfulness of his] name, if [for] one day, if [for] two days, if [for] three days, if [for] four days, if [for] five days, if [for] six days, if [for] seven days, wholeheartedly without [being] scattered, [in] focused upholding [of his] name, with reciting [of his] name thus, many transgressions [are] eliminated, [which] then is [with] many good roots [and] blessed virtues [as] cause [and] condition.’
若以至诚恳心,一心念佛,即能在一至多天的一至多念中,得佛他力加持,消除业障,而得足够善根福德因缘,得生彼国。
If with the utmost sincere mind, wholeheartedly mindful of the Buddha’s name, one will be able to, between one to more days, within one to many thoughts, attain the Buddha’s Other-Power’s blessings, to eradicate karmic obstacles, acquire enough good roots and blessed virtues as cause and condition, to attain birth in his Pure Land.
无有如此的念佛,即是无有如此的善根福德因缘。少有如此的念佛,即是少有如此的善根福德因缘。多有如此的念佛,即是多有如此的善根福德因缘。
Without having such mindfulness of Buddha, is to not have such needed good roots and blessed virtues as cause and condition. With little of such mindfulness of Buddha, is to have little of such needed good roots and blessed virtues as cause and condition. With much of such mindfulness of Buddha, is to have much of such needed good roots and blessed virtues as cause and condition.
