沉沉以思，吾人共生五浊，
苦多乐少，寿短业长。
纵使今朝成佛去，
乐邦教主已嫌迟。
安得不火急修持，
宴然自安乎？

Deeply consider thus, that we together are born within this [period of] Five Defilements [of the kalpa, with (wrong) views, afflictions, sentient beings and (short) lifespans], with much suffering and little joy, with short lifespans and much negative karma. Even if now going there to accomplish Buddhahood, the founder of the [Pure] Land Of Ultimate Bliss [i.e. Amitābha Buddha: Āmítuófó] already sees it to be late [as it should have been sooner]. How can we attain birth there if we do not urgently cultivate upholding [of Āmítuófó’s name], by ‘resting’ [lazily] like this, with self-assumed ‘peace’?
