西行偈
Verses On Going West
信愿念佛，
一念一斩。
树更西倾，
终必到西。
[With] Faith [and] Aspiration mindful [of Āmítuó]fó (阿弥陀佛), [each] one recitation [is like] one ‘chop.’ [With your] ‘tree’ even more [to the] West leaning, [in the] end definitely reaching [the] West[ern Pure Land Of Ultimate Bliss] (西方极乐世界).
当下行上，
西方之旅。
非唯临终，
急抱佛号。
[In the] present moment walking (i.e. practising) [and] advancing, [on the] journey [to the] West[ern Pure Land]. Not only [when] approaching [life’s] end, hurriedly embracing [the] Buddha’s name.
磁化喻
Magnetisation Analogy
Diligent mindfulness of Buddha
is like to ‘magnetise’ our minds
with the Buddha’s name,
which is like a permanent ‘magnet’,
to become a ‘magnet’ too,
to be attracted to him,
for reaching his Pure Land.
The more mindfulness there is,
the easier is it to do so.
一心加油
Wholeheartedly Step On The Gas (Add Oil)
To reach Pure Land (净土) swifter,
when approaching life’s end (临终),
with your direction of Faith (信) right,
simply ‘accelerate’ Practice (行)
of mindfulness of Buddha (念佛)
with full Aspiration (愿) all the way,
and do not ‘brake’ to be interrupted (间断).
最大愿偈
Verses On The Greatest Aspiration
生前最大愿，
往生极乐国，
临终愿不变，
必定满此愿。
During [one’s] life, [with the] greatest Aspiration, [being to be] reborn [in the Pure Land Of] Ultimate Bliss, [and when] approaching life’s end, [with this] Aspiration not changing, [there will] definitely [be] fulfilment [of] this Aspiration.
从信生此愿，
信愿行念佛，
三资粮具足，
必定生佛国。
From Faith giving rise [to] this Aspiration, [with] Faith [and] Aspiration [having the] Practice [of] mindfulness [of] Buddha, [with these] Three Provisions complete, [there will] definitely [be] birth [in the] Buddha’s land.
