未知偈
Verses [On That] Yet [To] Know
未知临终时，
如何最善终，
唯知世间法，
君未真学佛。
[If] yet [to] know when approaching [the] end [of this life], how to [have the] best ‘ending’, [while] only knowing worldly teachings, you [have] yet [to] truly learn [the] Buddha’s [teachings].
未知临终时，
能是此时刻，
不明无常理，
君未真学佛。
[If] yet [to] know when approaching [the] end [of this life], is able [to be] this [very] moment, [is to] not understand impermanence’s truth, [as] you [have] yet [to] truly learn [the] Buddha’s [teachings].
未知生净土，
见最净之者，
为学成净者，
君未真学佛。
[If] yet [to] know [how to be] born [in] Pure Land, [to] see [the] most pure one, for learning [to] become [a] pure one, you [have] yet [to] truly learn [the] Buddha’s [teachings].
未知应念佛，
生佛国见佛，
学佛速成佛，
君未真学佛。
[If] yet [to] know [you] should [be] mindful [of] Buddha, [to be] born [in the] Buddha’s land [to] see [the] Buddha, [to] learn [from the] Buddha [to] quickly become [a] Buddha, you [have] yet [to] truly learn [the] Buddha’s [teachings].
