Verses [On The] Ancient [Versus The] New
[This] Dharma-Ending [Age’s] sentient beings, all should only [be] with [those] teachers ‘with ancient [masters] as teachers’ as [their] teachers.
[This] Dharma-Ending [Age’s] evil ‘teachers’ propose [the] new [and] establish [the] different. Considering themselves as ‘teachers’, [with ill] consequences difficult [to] conceive.
[In this] Dharma-Ending Age, mindfulness [of] Buddha [is] foremost. [The] Buddha’s words [and the] Patriarchs’ teachings, [are what those] yet [to] learn [should] only rely [upon].
[With the] Right Dharma [Age] being ancient, Śākya[muni Buddha is our] fundamental teacher, [with the] Western [and] Eastern lands’ [i.e. India and China] Lotus Tradition’s Patriarchs [too].
[Note: May all always be careful to look deeper, to see if what learnt is in the right overall context, even if seemingly quoted from sūtras and Patriarchs’ commentaries.]
