阿弥陀佛净土之名与四土
[14] Amitābha Buddha’s Pure Land’s Name And Its Four Lands
【解】：「有世界名曰极乐」，序依报国土之名也。
[Explanation]: [With] ‘is [a] world named “Ultimate Bliss”‘, [this] Preface relies on [the] name of [the] Reward Land.
竖约三际以辨时劫，横约十方以定疆隅，故称「世界」。
[That] vertically restricted [by the] three times, with [them] distinguishing [its temporal] period, [and] horizontally restricted [by the] ten directions, with [them] defining [its spatial] boundaries, [is] therefore called ‘world’.
「极乐」者，梵语须摩提，亦云安养、安乐、清泰等，乃永离众苦第一安隐之谓，如下广释。
That ‘Ultimate Bliss’, [in] Sanskrit [is] ‘Sukhāvatī’ [i.e. Blissful], also called ‘Peaceful Nurturing’, ‘Peace [And] Bliss’, ‘Pure Peace’ [and] others, thus [with the] meaning of [that] forever departed [from] all suffering, [and] foremost [in] tranquillity, as [the] below extensively explains.
然佛土有四，各分净秽：
However, Buddha Lands have four [kinds, with] each partly purified [and] defiled.
凡圣同居土，五浊重者秽，五浊轻者净；
Ordinary [And] Noble [Beings’] Together Dwelling Lands, [have] those [with the] Five Defilements heavily defiled, [and] those [with the] Five Defilements lightly purified.
方便有余土，析空拙度证入者秽，体空巧度证入者净；
Skilful Means With Remainder Lands, [have] those [with] analysis [of] emptiness clumsily delivered, realised [and] entered defiled, [and] those [with] experience [of] emptiness skilfully delivered, realised [and] entered purified.
实报无障碍土，次第三观证入者秽，一心三观证入者净；
True Reward Without Obstacles Lands, [have] those one after another [with the] Three Contemplations realised [and] entered defiled, [and] those [with] one mind’s Three Contemplations realised [and] entered purified.

(1) Emptiness Contemplation (空观)
(2) (Provisional) False(ly Named) Contemplation (假观)
(3) Middle (Path’s) Contemplation (中观)]
常寂光土，分证者秽，究竟满证者净。
Eternally Still Light Lands, [have] those partly realised defiled, [and] those completely [and] fully realised purified.
今云「极乐」世界，正指同居净土，亦即横具上三净土也。
Now, [that] called [the] Land [Of] ‘Ultimate Bliss’, precisely refers [to the] Together Dwelling Pure Land, [which is] likewise thus horizontally complete [with the] above three Pure Lands too.
